Actually there are sone great Monaco, Holiday Rambler, Country Coach, Newell
and several more DP's with hp from 190-250 from the later 80's and early
90's over 25 years old that get 12-15 mpg in very great shape available for
25k-40k. I expect they will age just as well over the next 2 decades. Their
depreciation now is becoming a sharp buyer's gain!

Adiós. . .

Nothing could look worse than the '76 Eleganza I pulled out of a field in
Bonsall, CA. It was a pile!

G'day,

It has been noted on the GMCnet that there are RV parks that don't allow
RV's that are over a certain age in.

We all expressed our righteous indignation about that and IIRC we came to
the conclusion that the best way to fix it was LIE ABOUT THE AGE of your
GMC!

In the Airstream forums, the collective understanding is (or was, when I last checked in several years ago) that most parks will make an exception for an Airstream of any age.

I have often been asked the age of the vehicle when calling ahead to a park, but never had a problem when I said "1973 Airstream". I'm hoping that "1973 GMC" yields the same results.

I have to admit, my 1973 GMC is a bit of an eyesore. Nothing a paint job and some window work won't cure, but no time for that now. Leaving this week...! I hope the RV fashion judges will forgive us our transgressions, as we forgive them for theirs.

Andrew, Bob and I were worried about driving ours from 2005, when we bought
it, until after we had it painted in 2007; however, we had no problems in
any RV park during that time. People would run over as soon as we parked
and want to talk about/know more about the coach. After we had it painted,
we still haven't experienced any problems at any RV parks--been to Alaska
and The Maritimes from Texas. Now we don't get nearly as much attention.
Before painting, they KNEW it was old. After painting, they think it's new
and aren't sure what it is... Unless you go to some snooty RV park, don't
expect to be turned away.

Rob,
We always used the date of the last upgrade as the year of manufacture.

How about just using the DOT date code off the newest tire? The way I'm going, it won't be long before I have a 2011 Royale!
