What is the purpose of the 'shut off' switch just before the Onan electric
fuel pump?
I had to remove it to get a generator running over the weekend....since it
now runs fine, do I need to replace or re-install it?
Thanks

Mike,

I was told that it was included in all of the Power Drawer packages because: Some installations mount the APU at or below the fuel tank level and a leaking carburetor could cause a real problem. Or, in the case of a GMC, over filling the fuel tank or vent issues could cause fuel pressures to rise in the tank that could push through the carburetor float valve. I have never seen pressure in my fuel tanks.

Me, I think I would try to go without it in a GMC. Just be sure you understand the situation.

Matt

My 1976 GMC does not have one nor does it have any wiring for one. The shutoff valve was supplied by Onan not GMC.

My opinion is to forget replacing it.
