I have purchased a new hot water tank from Jim K. it is/looks exactly
like the org. I have removed the access panel from the bathroom (shelf
for tp) and have easy access to the tank. it is freely moving in the
opening, but i can not figure out how to remove it.
it gets hung up on sink area.. or the shelf it is mounted on. please
help, its the last thing needed to use it this weekend!!
thanks,

If it is the same as a palm beach.... remove the shelf and the aluminum frame around it. reach around to the far end of the water heater. need long arms for this and remove the nut in the middle of the round cover on the far end. take the 2 bolts out of the feet on the near end that mount the heater to the frame. remove water lines and electrical wires and lastly remocve the heater hoses from the engine and put a short piece of tubing between them to keep from loosing all the antifreeze. you can also clamp them off if you have some vise grips and short pieces of paint stiring sticks. it will now come out the hole where the shelf was.

I have emailed you a reprint from GMCMI that was written in 1991 by Seldon McCabe of Brookings, OR.
It shows the removal from a 1975 Eleganza so it should work for your 75 Glenbrook.
It is a little wordy but should be of help.
I don't have any information about Seldon but he hasn't been a member of GMCMI since 1993 so I assume that he has died.

When I did mine on the 78 Kingsley it was a straightforward task. Four bolts two hoses, a few electrical connections and it was done. You do have to remove the frame around the removable panel, found out about that the hard way. I did not have to revove the rear seating or drill any holes.
Cheers,

Your 1978 is different from his 1975.
They used a Type1 water heater in 1975.

I have a 76 Glenbrook although modified by Clasco I don't think they changed the water heater area. I remember some real arm twisting to remove the hoses from the engine to the water heater and the power connection, but since I was removing them anyway for my on-demand water heater, mounted behind the refrigerator, I think I just cut them off to ease the removal. I also removed the toilet and lower panel under the water tank to ease access to other connections. But, apart from this, I don't recall any other problems in removing the tank.
