Just noticed there were 129 users on-line today -- an all time high. Only 5 were signed in...
So, are more people trending to the forum over email? Curious.

Well, now I see that whatever the current count --- it always says it is the highest ever... never the less, 129 on line at one time is quite a lot.

Dennis, I suspect newer members use the forum. I point them to it when asked. Simpler to use but that is debatable amongst the email users. I am glad that Eugene keeps it going. Met Eugene in La. back in 07. Great guy.

That does not seem like a high number. Are you sure you are looking at the right thing. The number is reset every night at midnight CDT. You need to click on "todays visitors" on the front page somewhere just before the midnight reset. I just looked and counted 65 logged in users by 10 AM. Most of the users do not come on until late afternoon or evening. This number does not include anonymous users who are mostly emailers. You should see the anonymous user count go up on when the email system is down. They do not log in and then complain about how hard it is to use the forum because they have no profile and no continuing record of the threads they have viewed. I have been noticing one convert who fought me many times on how hard it is to use. Now he is signed in every day. He finally figured out that signing and setting his profile gave him lots of advantages.

Check the list just before midnight.

I read the forum on line at work without logging in. At home I log in.
The remaining value of email is the ability to save specific posts. I notice that it is very common for owners to post that they remember an email about whatever, but did not save it so please answer again . . . whereas, the forum saves all posts until it blows up. There is no simple way to save an individual thread on the forum, but it is easy to search.
At one time I used a specific gmail account and just stored all the emails on line that way.

I bounce between the two. I prefer the forum when I'm composing a new thread, but generally use e-mail to respond.

Why don't you sign in at work? The forum keep track of you no matter what terminal you use.

I forgot to check the number of signed in users last night. This morning at 7:15 AM the number was 39.

Possibly to reduce the possibility that
his work email address can be hacked?

Ken,
Interesting.
Where do you see the statistics? I have been looking on the home page and it shows the number on-line at that moment. It also has a line for "most users ever" but that is the same reading.
Pretty good traffic...
Thanks,
Dennis

The forum does not use email. It is a web based application accessible from any Internet connected web browser in the world.

Go to the first screen and click on "Today's Visitors" Then start counting by hand. This number does not include any visitors that have not signed in.
