OK, by popular request, here's a look under the hoods of my
X-Birchaven, courtesy of Matt Colie. These are 5 years old, so there
have been considerable changes, including complete HVAC box
replacement and, hopefully, some wire routing improvements.

Charles,
The battery Connnect/Disconnect switch activates/deactivates the two
alternate action relays marked Coach Battery (at lower left of black
heater duct) and Chassis Battery (at lower right of heater duct),
Those relays, the first connection off of their respective batteries,
pass all of the current from those batteries (except for the stater on
the chassis battery). They are unusual in that they're alternate
action, maintaining the last condition (closed or open) to which they
were activated. Activation is by momentary (+-) voltage or
deactivation by momentary (-+) voltage on the coil.
As many switches DPDT switches as desired can be used to
Active/Deactivate a relay, as long as only one is applying power at a
time. I have the single switch operating both relays simultaneously.
It's my intention to put another switch by the exit door, but haven't
yet, despite Ken B's fire experience -- I'd have to raise the right
hood and hit the illustrated switch to kill all electrical power.
In other words, that's my Battery Cutoff Switch.
The other yellow labels on the heater duct warn that if the coach is
plugged into shore power or the generator's running, the coach (and
chassis through the combiner) circuits will be active from the
converter.
