Not sure my first query made it. still trying.

Overall height of the GMC coach, I presently have a statistic of 9'2" with
roof A/C. Is correct/accurate, and is a roof pod likely to be taller?

And,

What's the height difference between air bags full and air bags deflated?

And,

Would it be bad for the bags to sit deflated while the coach is 'berthed'.

Talking OEM here.

AND REMEMBER: IT AIN'T WORTH DOIN' IF YA CAN'T MAKE IT FUN!!

Carl,

The OAH of your GMC would depend on the height of the A/C units and the pod.
You note "Talking OEM here" but pods were not OEM. There are fair few
different pods out there so there's no way to provide you with an accurate
answer.

Suggestion: Park on a level surface; put the Powerlevel in Travel and let
the GMC settle out. Get on the roof with a long 2 x 4 and a level. Sit the 2
x 4 on the highest item on the roof and level it then have Sharon measure
from the ground to the bottom of the 2 x 4.

Mark Bennett just sent me some measurements of his 1978 GMC with OEM bags
fully inflated and deflated and the range was 6.5 inches.

If you fully deflate the bags in your 1973 GMC the rear wheels will hit the
plastic wheel well liners. I store my GMC on jack stands under the frame
with the bags fully deflated.

BY DEFINITION GMC'S ARE FUN!

it is a good thing to park the GMC on blocks when ever it is home or in
storage.

http://goo.gl/iw9es

-takes the strain off of the leveling system and tires
-stops "hot-dogging" of the air bags
-a "safe" condition where an airbag cannot explode
etc

Thanks both to Mr. 'Erf' and Rob Mueller. Don't have the coach yet (sussing
out her berthing requirements when we get her home). Assuming she'll roll
clearly aired out, 6.5" will do me nicely. Then raise her back up and onto
blocks. Got it. Saw pix, but don't quite 'get' the rest of it. Will
become much more clear when we actually have her. 8-days and counting...

Thanks all.

Note that the 6.5 inches is measured at the boogie pins between the rear wheels. As the front wheels do not adjust with the air system, the travel would be different at different points on the coach. Anything aft of the rear wheels, like the back bumper, would have more travel. Anything forward, like the mid mounted air conditioner. would have less travel.

"Assuming she'll roll clearly aired out" ... depends on the year of the coach. Early coaches 1973 and 1974, will rest on the rear wheel wells when the air system is down. It is even worse, if you have taller than stock tires.
