The guy working on the dash air in my 77 Royale thinks the orifice tube may be clogged. Any idea where he'll find it in the lines? He's got the manual but that's not helping him. The system was switched to R134 several years ago but never really worked. Other ideas?
Thanks

Pg. 1B12 of X-7725 manual, figure 13 shows the thermostatic expansion
valve -- inside the HVAC box under the R. hood. There is no orifice
tube unless the R134a modification was exceptional.

Bill,
Was your system evacuated and held under vacuum for a while before it
was charged the last time?
Non-condensibles present in the system - such as water vapor - can
cause blockage symptoms; you'll get cooling initially but then ice
builds up in narrow passages and blocks the flow of refrigerant.
BTW, the R134 conversion on my Eleganza never worked well - it cooled
poorly and squealed the belt when the clutch engaged. We went with
Duracool instead - it is fabulous!

Thanks for the information. I have the Duracool ordered so we'll see what happens.
