I had posted that I installed the new body pads this past weekend.... definitely
a miserable job.

Lisa and I took the coach to her parents on Sunday to show them some of the
upgrades we've done, about 70 miles each way.

For those of you that have not experienced the difference of having new
isolation pads, all I can say is just bite the bullet and change them !!

We could not believe the difference, it was like driving a brand new vehicle.
Quiet, smooth, vibration free....we no longer had to yell at each other while
traveling......words cannot explain how fabulous the change is.

This is definitely an upgrade that is worth the time and money.

Ray,
I'm with you on the miserable job but the improvement makes it definitely worth while.

Did you check where the black tank outlet goes through the frame for clearance around it?

I also moved my macerator from being supported by a bracket to the frame to being supported by a bracket off the body.

FYI all, I've now noticed I have a crack in the body seam behind the driver's side window above the belt-line where the Fiberglas front meets the aluminum. I'm not sure if this is from the stress of raising of the body, or just never noticed it before. If I had to do it again I would loosen the 4 bolts holding the front body mount donuts near the engine as well as the back and I would use 2 jacks to spread the stress of raising the body.

Ray,
Sorry to hear it was such a terrible job, but my experience was different. I dreaded the job for several years. The one day just decided to do it. I figured a whole day for the job, and ended up getting it done in just a couple of hours. One of the simplest easiest jobs/upgrades I have done on our coach.

I'm installing Port EFI on my coach now. Spent 4 hours taking it apart...I'm on my 2nd week putting it back together. A SOB of a job.... but fun..

I removed the big U brackets from the frame and the rear body bolts.

Only problem I had was when changing the pads between the drivers side rear
boogies, I heard a slight crack....thought DANG, could be the black tank toilet
flange. So last night I pulled the toilet and sure enough, had a 3" crack
around the flange.....just a hairline crack, no major damage. I was able to
clean it with a good plastic cleaner and reseal it with 3M 5200. Also gave me a
chance to really clean up the thunder mug before I reinstall it tonight.

My black tank line through the frame is fine, macerator hangs to the frame via a
spring hook, no problem there either.

Just happy it's done and I sure love the result !

A COUPLE OF HOURS Larry......holy cats ! Mine took me 3 hours per side, I had
3 pads left on one side and 4 on the other. ALL were squashed to about 1/8 to
3/16 inch....what was left of them.

Will the new pad collapse/fail over time like the OEM pads?

I have no idea. But, the old pads were supposedly 3/8" thick on the 78 models
and the new ones are 3/4", so that should help.

Yup, just a couple of hours. Three weeks ago I helped John Biwersi do his and took us about 2 hrs. He too had dreaded the job, so I told him I'd help. When I got to his house, he had the back end up and on stands, and the side straps loose. Did not loosen the front or rear large round ones. We laid on the driveway and used a single hydraulic jack at each pad location to just jack up body until there was enough room to slip the pad in. Then put one single self tapping screw through it into the cross supports, let it down and went on to the next one. A simple easy job. He was very surprised at how fast it went.

Let's see, how do we avoid saying "I told you so?" ;>)

I agree. It is amazing. John Shotwell, Bob Stockholm and I changed most of
the pads in 2009 while at the Miller's in Hamilton. Before traveling a mile
(we weren't in a place to drive at highway speeds) Martha looked at me and
said: "Am I imagining or can you tell a difference already?" At that point
we had gotten to 45 and were approaching a traffic signal.

From this anecdotal information you can just imagine the difference at 60
when the noise, vibration, etc. is amplified.
