I checked my black tank by filling it all the way. Water came running out from the top of the tank. I assume I need a new tank. I guess I could try having it plastic welded. Were is the best place to purchase one. How hard is it to replace the tank.

I will run a dye over the threats and use a double nuts to holed against to break the bolts loose. Beyond that I have no idea what I am getting into.

I ordered a tank from Duane Simmons, Jim K probably has them as well. It fit perfectly. I also added a macerator at the same time I replaced it. I don't recall it as too difficult. You'll need to remove your toilet. In my case, because my GMC has been modified, I found it easiest to remove the floor in the bath to get at all the vents. That game me the opportunity to remove the collection of mouse nests I found there. I modified the inlet from the kitchen sink using ideas I found on the GMC site. I ended up having to saw through two of the bolts holding up the bottom braces, but I was able to use the remains and extend the bolts through the new bottom braces I had made since the old ones had pretty much rusted though. Now that I'm finished writing this out, I do recall it was a PITA.

Art,

If it is leaking from the top, it may not be the tank but the fittings going into the tank. Here is a link to Emery's photos on replacing the kitchen drain inlet to the black tank.

Here are some photos showing the top of the tank on my 73 -- and the new inlet I had plastic welded for the shower and kitchen.

If you have to drop the black tank, the hanger can be held with vise grips to allow you to turn off the nuts.

The toilet inlet on mine screwed into the top of the tank -- I made this tool to more easily remove it..

And if you do add a macerator at the same time...
Well, here is what I did -- generally followed Duane Simmons ideas.
