Does anyone have any recommendations for a rear storage box? I expect that a box that fits in the hitch receptacle is going to be my best option at the moment.

I just bought a hitch rack from Harbor Frieght (49.00) and a 48 gallon Rubbermaid Action packer and a 30 Gallon action packer.
I bolted steel rails on the rack and bolted the Action Packers to the rails. Had to do that because the totes don't fit in the hitch rack. Instant trunk for under 150 bucks.

I have one very similar to the one in the link provided by Steve Stolley.
Couple of years old but never installed or used.
Complete with wiring for lights and hitch bracket. Light beige color like A/C cover on your GMC.
Will sell for good price. If any one is interested I can post pictures. Located in Red Bluff,Ca.
Can deliver for proper incentive.

Anyone have any experience towing a car behind the storage box receiver-extender?
Seems like adding 20" behind the rear coach wheels would really torque the coach side of the receiver mount on tight turns.
The bumper is already a good 8 feet behind the center of the bogie though, so maybe the difference isn't significant?

I think the Harbor Freight hitch hauler and a couple of coolers would be a great way to have extra carrying capacity for a very reasonable price.
I wonder if there is any interference with the spare tire on the original carrier?

Mine had no interference problems. However, if conventional wisdom says that HF stuff is good for 1 use and that 1 use is the outbound leg of your trip, does Mama really want to ride home with a couple coolers on her lap?
They might be fine, but I found alot of variance in quality before settling on the one I got. Also, You gotta keep them balanced left to right or they'll bend.
I think it would make a great welding project for a High School Shop Class. Make a dozen.

Jim,
I've found spaces to squirrel all the stuff you list below around Double
Trouble outside. I do carry some unopened engine oil and trans fluid under
my bed.
Next time I'm back I'll take some pictures and post them on the Photo Site.

Rob,
I use mine for tools, fluids, water hoses and related stuff, power
cords/extensions, tv cable, chocks and anything that if it leaks will not
screw up the coaches interior. Also makes a great storage locker when at
campgrounds and rallies.
