I need to pick up a Dometic refrigerator I bought about 150 miles away. Is it OK to transport it on it's side instead of upright? I would like to haul it inside my station wagon but could haul it upright in a trailer if it might damage it to be on it's side.
I have seen recommendations to lay them on their side to resurrect a dead one, but that did not work on the one I have now.

When I received my new Dometic several years ago, the freight company shipped in on its side. I installed it with the correct side up and two day later turned it on. I have had no problems with it in the 6 or 7 years since then.

Just put it upright for 24 hours after moving it on it's side and you will be fine. It needs to sit upright for a while prior to starting it up.

Funny thing about those refrigerators. My 78 Royale by Coachman has a
Dometic 3 way. When my coach is sitting nose down, the 120 v won't cool very
well, but the propane will in the same spot. My 12 v is controlled by a
relay connected to the alternator circuit, and automatically switches from
120 v to 12 V when you start the engine if 120 v is selected. Works great
while traveling, keeps frozen stuff frozen.
