Yup, the approx 3" wide pipe from where the toilet sits, down into the tank.
See I knew if I came up with an outlandish theory, I'd get set straight! :-)

I don't know why both our coaches have identical pipes, both of which
end only about 2" from the bottom of the tank. I see some plumbing
in my future.

Do you have pictures of your tank flusher installation?? Sounds like a good idea.

KB, do you know how far from bottom of tank the pipe is? Mine looks close also but I do not have any problems with it as long as I have water in the tank. I would measure the distance from the bottom of tank before ripping it out. Might not be as close to the bottom as it looks. The black tank is not very "thick" anyway.
