I've read "somewhere" (there is so much info out there) about going away from the aluminum window surround and getting the black surround as they did in the '75 and above.
I am having a dickens trying to find that site again. All of the windows are still the old aluminum except one over the daveno behind the the driver's seat. That is the new type.
The window next to the dinette as one walks in the door is really bad. There is a gap between the window frame and the wall of the cabin. I can almost put my finger through it to the outside. I thought the window was slightly ajar. NO...the frame is "slightly" ajar from the cabin of the home!!!
Also, I haven't found where to get the inside wall sheeting and the plastic(?) molding that ends the interior sheeting. I will need to find this outlet also.
We have a 32' 74 Excella rear twin, also. It is original and in good shape. This will definitely be a "project." We are spoiled by the Airstream.
The Airstream is our campmobile. This is our golf course and take the boat (15' Whaler Sport) to the lake rig. We've always tow the boat with our Jeep for a day of boating and then eventually want to spend the night. Well, you don't do that in a Jeep, hence, the Glacier.
We had looked at Class B+, but there isn't room in those. This cruiser will also be used for visiting family in various States. Its always nice to have one's own bed!

I am not a boater, but boat launching with a front wheel drive motorhome is interesting.
While your drive wheels are out of the wetter areas, the weight transfer is off the front and to the rear (non-drive) wheels. The amount of weight transfer will vary with the incline of the ramp. Some GMC/boaters use a front mounted hitch to launch boats.
You'll need to see how it works out for you.
I also like taking my bed room (and lounge) when visiting relatives and friends.

I bought my GMC in March 2010 for two purposes.
1) Take a small jet boat to lakes and staying there
for a day or two.
2) The same thing but hauling our Harleys to some
interesting riding areas that otherwise would demand
hundreds of miles of uninteresting riding.
I intend to have a front hitch installed as one of
the projects to get the coach safely operational.

Welcome to the group/family/asylum. . . .
Several decades ago, I sailed Lightnings for a builder. I was provided a van with a bunk. That van also had a launching hitch on the front. If that front hitch is offset to the right (it was on the second van) then you can see that wheel of the trailer and it is much easier to guide down the ramp. Most ramps will easily accommodate the extra beam (width). This may be no issue at all with a GMC. I am not all sure how a GMC (they did not yet exist) would do at this. You really don’t want the drive wheels on the ramp in tidal water (maybe not a big issue in Montana).
What did happen often was, those that arrived in a Travco or a Cortez (there was one Wini), would ask that I do their launch (and recovery) and then we would all help stepping (and stowing) the rigs. Really a big friendly family - until the white flag (beginning of the start sequence). If you arrive with friends, this maybe a really good idea.
One of the Travcos had a pair of headsets and a long wire out a rear window so the crew could talk the driver down the ramp. They later tried some CB walkie-talkies, but reverted to wire for some reason.
While we are welcoming in you, let me repeat what I like doing. In the world of waterman, there is a traditional greeting to a new vessel or owner. With these coaches being so very much like watercraft, I like to paraphrase this and use it as a greeting here. So,
May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that setforth within her.

Thanks for the Blessing, Matt! thank you very much! Thanks for the boat launch info also, Mike and Matt.
Someone told us that these get stuck on flat land...so I was considering the front mount hitch. We're only talking a very light 15' Whaler sport. I do understand the front wheel drive weight in the rear concept, good point.
Regarding launching the boat. Saw a video on YouTube to make sure we could before we purchased the motorhome.
Someone commented (still learning names, sorry) regarding the three hitch points on the front of our GMC. Maybe we will use these if that's best. Heck, I can't back anything up, not even the lawn tractor with a trailer on it. I've tried countless times. It does NOT work with my brain. It just doesn't and I can't make it any different. Mark said he'd install a front hitch.
Anyway, got the beast home last night with a loss of 3 hubcaps. Went out this a.m. early and followed the 40 mile route and couldn't find one of them.
Found the TZE and registered it. she's a Sequoia rather than a Glacier although the interior is blue and the stripes on the side blue. Exterior color white.

What we've found since our trip home. I followed Mark in the Jeep. We had filled up with gasoline before leaving. Gas pours out when Mark would make a left hand turn. Also when he pressed the brakes to get off the highway (flat ground) gasoline poured out. I watched this for 40 miles through around 5 roundabouts and a left hand climb up a two mile hill. Aaack!
Brakes got soft on Mark as he went along. Also a grinding noise, but don't know for sure what it was as he couldn't hear it well enough while driving.
I don't think this will be out of our shop any time soon. And the first thing is a dewinterizing of the Hotsy.

Mark works for a company with HQ's in Perry, if you get my drift.
He's down there every year. I came down there a year ago for the conference because Mark won service manager of the world (international company) for this company. We were caught in that big storm that shut down Will Rogers for days.
We drove north of the border on black ice to get a plane out. Quite an ordeal.
If I get this figured out I will post these pics I copied from the RV company's website....
Whoops "FILE ATTACHMENT IS TOO BIG" error. Will work on this. Now how to get a file down to 1Kb....

Most cement boat ramps around here have a wash board finish. I don't have any problem pulling my boats out on them unless the trailer drops off the end of the ramp with the heavier boat on a tandem trailer with 13" tires. I believe that boat is in excess of 4,000 lbs (21' inboard 460 cu" mini day cruiser). The lighter boat is a 455 olds powered 18' and is easier to maneuver. Your Boston waler should be no problem. I only used my front hitch to back the boat into a garage. I do have a 3:90 final drive however. I would not consider launching off a sandy beach.

Peg: go here http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/index.php and go to upper right hand corner and register. Then wait for an e-mail letting you know you are in. Then go back and log in and create an album and down load pics. if the pics are small you can do about 10 at a time, if larger maybe 2 or 3 at a time. Remember to bookmark your album so you can copy and paste the link for us to see. Most people use www.tinyurl.com to condense their photo link as mine. http://tinyurl.com/3xcs8j

Peg, easy tip when backing a trailer. Put your dominant hand on the center
of the bottom of the steering wheel. Watch the trailer in mirror of your
choice. Move your dominant hand the direction that you want the trailer to
go in the mirror. With a little practice, you to can back a trailer. Trust
me, I wouldn't lie to a new GMCer, that comes after a proper initiation
period.<GRIN>

Three exterior colors were available for '74 Sequoia's, white, Camel & pineapple yellow. Parrot green which had been available in '73 was discontinued. The interior woodgrain was a light colored Birch, all the other 73/74 models had a darker color interior wood grain finish.

Thanks Bill...it is a light color. Boy, these cupboards are built tough, aren't they? I love Birch...it is such a strong wood. No wonder these cupboards look good after so many years of use.

Well, we might invest in one of those boat dollies...or Mark can man handle it into the water... We usually don't go by the boat docks...too many people...but then maybe we can get "acquainted" that way anyway. We shall see...the pointers are great! the trailer weighs 250 and the boat 900 lbs. The engine is a 50HP and I have no idea what it weighs. So we aren't talking a BIG boat. Just a VERY safe boat, safest one made as long as one wears a jacket. The boat can be cut in half and make it back to shore. Thank You for your insight, everyone!
