Sometime around 1990 I bought a universal screen door from Camping world. It consisted of around 6 screen panels probably 6" wide that extended from the ceiling to the floor. When I wanted a screen door I just slide the 6 panels into the track. The dog can come and go as she pleases with out me having to open anything. It isn't perfect but it gets the job done. It is kind of like an entry curtain on a walk in cooler. I don't know if you can still buy them and they were inexpensive.

I search the net and ebay for nearly 2 years before I found my screen door for
$200. I can't imagine having an RV without one, to me it was one of the most
critical items GM missed, it should have been offered as an RPO right out of the
gate. My recommendation is to keep searching.

Sherman,

Ragusa is the only company currently making screen doors for the GMC...
http://ragusarv.com/
This is the door JimK at Applied sells.
Very well made. I have one -- awaiting time to complete the install.

There have been a few companies making them in the past. The Burch screen door is occassionaly available in the used market. When fitted correctly it is a very nice door.

Other owners have used invisible doors and fitted trim around the entrance. Here is one nice example ...

You can also buy a piece of Fiberglas cloth screen about 4" or more
wider than the door opening. Make it long enough to extend above the
inside opening at the top and extend about 4" below the outside of the
door. Sew a pocket in the top and the bottom. At the top mount a cafe
curtain rod inside and above the door Hang the screen on this. In the
bottom pocket put a length of chain heavy enough to hold the screen
down.

When you drop the bottom outside the motorhome the screen will lay
alongside the outside curve of the GMC.

When you want to close the door just pull the screen inside and slide
it to one side of the rod.

Works well and very low cost.

Jim K at Applied GMC sells the Ragusa door. It's a very nice door. I found
a used Birch Screen Door on Ebay but they are hard to come by and you really
have to screw around with it to get a good fit.

I installed one last year. It's fairly stout but keep in mind it's
still a screen door.

The castings are nice and the hinges are marvels of engineering. I did
spend a LOT of time adjusting it. Tweaking this, moving that. I even
had to carve on the coach a little (bolt heads and door frame) to get is
just right. I couldn't use the "bulb" weatherstrip supplied. It just
wouldn't let the door shut right.

I do have it fitting very nicely now. I actually enjoyed the process,
but that's who I am. :^)
Still not a perfect seal but it would be hard to make one that would.

What I didn't think about but turns out to be a nice thing is the little
bit of privacy it give you. If it's nice outside and not buggy you
would sit with your coach door wide open. People take this as an
invitation to walk up and chat. Not usually a bad thing but sometimes
not what you want. With the screen door you can still enjoy the weather
outside but people understand that your door is "closed".

Never thought about it until I had it. :^)

My wife saw your door, now it is fairly high on the list for "must haves" for my "keeper coach."

Thanks Kelvin, for making my list longer!

Kelvin,

I trial fit my Ragusa door a week ago. The door gap on my coach is only about 1/16 inch at the bottom hinge -- I was thinking a small notch might be required to allow the door to close.
Any photos of the trimming and fitting you did would be very helpful.
A photo of the final latch fitting and pieces you bought to complete the seal would also be great.
Here is what I have -- the original has been replaced in some early factory recall.

I have what looks like glue residue around the door frame. I think that might be from some sort of trim. Do you by chance sell the trim? Is that the Birch screen door trim on your website? I have a palm beach, would that trim fit mine as well? Sorry for all the questions but I ma new at the GMC adventure...
