I was refused admittance to a campground because I have an electric water heater. Anyone else heard of this?

That is hard to believe. Was there a sign posted to that affect? Makes me laugh outloud, but it is not really funny.

Don't most RVs (self-propelled or towed) these days
have combination propane/electric water heaters?
My 1998 Aerolite (lost in tornado) and my 2000
Forest River Cedar Creek both have/had combo units?

Maybe the campground had primitive electric service
and they thought the electric mode would overload
the service and maybe burn down the campground???

Fortunately i called ahead to make a reservation. They also said no scooters, even if left hanging on the back. Go figure. Mac, the GMC had only an electric heater although some have converted.

Just to clarify...

The GM UPFITTED coaches had electric/engine preheat water heaters. Some upfitters (like Coachman) installed propane only units.

.....

This campground, did they allow electric powered A/C's? How about heat strips? Cube heaters? Electric powered towds? All use far more power than an electric water heater.

Mike,

Can't answer those questions. They charge $42/night with no mention of any electric stuff except water heater. They charge an extra $50/month and $180 for the season for AC. (Also xtra charge for kids over 4.)

They own the park, they have the right to make what ever rules they want, even if they do not make any sense. (Within reason, if you can call "legal" "reason!")

BUT... you have the right not to stay there. If enough people choose that right, they'll change their rules.

There are some really strange campground operations around. One we stayed
in a few years back didn't allow satellite dishes! "We've got cable; you
WILL pay for and use it. No, you may NOT use the satellite after paying."

Like I said, "There are some really strange campground operations around."
To stay OUT of. :-)
