Big tornado went thru Alabama today; an F5, one mile wide and 100 miles on
the ground; 24 confirmed deaths as of 8pm this evening. Probably the same
storm Dan talks about in this message............

We watched this one come through Tuscaloosa. Passed a good 15 miles to the north of us and then saw another one, marginally weaker, pass a good 10 miles south of us. We seem to be almost out of it now thankfully. From Tuscaloosa in the southwest through Cullman in the northeast and beyond there are a lot of folks working through problems now. Hopefully the interstates won't be too bad tomorrow when we head out.

I was in Atlanta at Peachtree - Dekalb airport one time when a Tornado came through. It got the airplanes parked and tied down on both sides of me. Mine was unscathed. One was a Beach King Air and the other a high wing Cessna. Both were flipped over. I'm thinking the low wings on my Grumman is what saved me.
Good luck with the weather.

Thanks Ken - only damage we had was the loss of about 3 hours sleep. We
were lucky. A tornado passed about 10 miles south of us. It formed SW of
us and for a while it was tracking NE.
A lot of people hurting in Alabama and Georgia today.
