Just a quick poll on what people are willing to pay for indoor storage? I am looking at leasing some warehouse space for my coach. I am looking at a space large enough to store 4-6 coaches at roughly 42 cents per foot total. That would be just a hair under $200 per month for four coaches in one space, or $125 for six. We could fit six, but two would have to be able to be moved when someone wants out, so Keys would need to be left in them.

I can also lease double the space which would allow for 8-10 coaches, but again if we put ten in there, two would have to be able to be moved any time.

I'm asking the whole group to give me an idea if this is viable, and then the Phoenix AZ guys if they would be interested in joining me. Two of you have seen the place I used to store my coach. this one would be just off the 60 Freeway and Country Club. I may also buy the bldg as an investment since I could move my business into it and keep the current tenants it already has. If I do that, the space rental cost would go down, probably a lot.

The space would have a bathroom, power, and we could set up power tools, so basically this would become a man-cave of sorts. We could also dump the black tanks here.

Is that 42 cents per square foot? Or 42 cents per linear foot?
$200 a month each or $200 a month for four vehicles space?
Which is $50 each. Yes? No?

If I could find indoor storage for $50 per month that would be a no brainer. I
currently pay $60 for outdoor storage in a storage lot.

I would think it is .42 per sq. ft.
10x30 spot would cost $126.00
It looks like there is 1800 to 2000 sq. ft. available in the one spot.

I pay $75/month for covered shed (open at ends)
storage for my 30' travel trailer (2000 vintage).
I pay $50 for 3 months open storage for 26' GMC
here in the Oklahoma City area. I have two other
spaces at that location so negotiated somewhat of
a bargain for 2 spaces at $100 per three months
several years ago and owner agreed to keep the
same rate for the 3 slots. THey aren't really
all that nice (gravel) but they are only 2 miles
from the house at most.

I pay $130 a month for open storage out here at Treasure Island. Basically the rate is $5 a foot.

There's a lots of possibilities on this old Navy base if some Bay Area folks wanted to get a "GMC House" out here to do the same thing. Covered storage and a workshop would be just what most of us need.

Harry's got it right in his second post . I have an 1,800 sf space, but we rent the whole space for 42 ($773.01) cents/sq ft and divide by the number of coaches. $125-200 is what each would pay depending on how many coaches (4-6). I could have 3,800 sf as well, hence 8-10 coaches in that one.

The bonus is it is indoors, has facilities, and we can work on them and not have to put stuff away every night so long as it is not in anyone's way. Only people with access would be those with coaches in the unit. Each person would also get some "wall" space to store crap on shelves that would normally clutter up your garage...

G'day,

Double Trouble is stored in a single fully enclosed storage shed (group of
four) in Humble, Texas that is 12 ft. x 39 ft. The VW is all the way down
the back next to the shelves and under the pallet racking with all my extra
goodies that I have collected as they are totally necessary! I'll probably
wind up selling them with Double Trouble when I am too old to drive! ;-)

It costs me $139.00 per month.

We have a limited number of storage spaces here at the Co-op.  He charge $100 pr
month on the lot and $150 monthly for covered.  It may be a bit more than some
but hey, is there anyone at your storage lot that actually can get your coach
serviced and ready to go?  Do they know anything about your coach?  I feel that
has some value.  You can call us, let us know when you want to pick the machine
up and we can check fluids and have it ready to go.  Want periodic maintenance
done without being around, no problem.  Space is one thing but intelligent space
is another.

JimB,
When you get a facility out here on the west side of the country, I'll be your first customer.
I like the idea of inside storage, especially in Arizona. Way too hot to be outside.
