If I remember correctly a 16.5 steel wheel and tire weighs 83 pounds.
A Kuhmo 8.25x75-16 LRE tire weighs 38 pounds.
A CLASSIC 16" 8 lug Alcoa weighs 19 pounds.
Making the total 57 pounds.
Do not take these numbers to the bank.
I may be remembering wrong.

I just weighed my other spare Alcoa LTS with 245 75 16 Bridgestone V Steel tyre and it came to 60lbs.
I keep it in my basement through the in winter case you were wondering.

I received this off net from another GMCer:
My records show a significant difference in weight but not as much as 200 lbs. When I installed Alcoa HotShots and Goodyear G159s in place of steel rims and the equivalent Goodyear G159s I weighed tires and rims with the following results:
- A bare Alcoa HotShot 16" alloy wheel with inflation stem weighed 19.6 lbs.
- A bare OEM 16.5" steel wheel with inflation stem weighed 37.6 lbs.
- An OEM 16.5" steel wheel with inflation stem and Goodyear G159 all-steel radial tire weighed 83.4 lbs.
- 16.5" and 16" Goodyear G159 all steel radials weigh about the same.
- The weight savings of Alcoa 16" alloy wheels vs. OEM steel 16.5" wheels is 18 lbs. each or 108 lbs for six wheels.
I did not change the spare to an Alcoa so there is another 18 lbs. of potential saving for a total of 126 lbs. I did not weigh the hardware and hubcaps.

I am guessing that Willem is more interested in the weight for shipping reasons, than for improving the chassis dynamics of his GMC, but I could be wrong!
