Trying to plan this summers trips using Google etc and I find that most sites are really just advertising.
Is there a good travel site (or mapping site) that shows best routes (scenery) things to see and do along the way (museums, points of interest) that aren't just full of ads for resturants and hotels?
Right now we are looking at Canadian Maritimes and New England States on the way back. Yup, going to try to do the trip we started out on 2 years ago, but lost the engine on the second day.

Bruce,
We use MS Streets and Trips. Quite accurate and one of the tools we lean
on heavily is "Find Nearby Places". Sure helps when looking for a park near
the end of a day's journey and every type of restaurant there is. Also will
find any attractions, plot refueling stops, keep you on the types of roads
you prefer and keep you off those you don't like (turnpikes etc.) Nice
program, not expensive.

I probably should start a new thread but it is associated with this one.
I use MS streets and Trips. Then I went to the Discovery owners web site and down loaded all of their pushpin files. I selected the specific files I wanted (Walmarts, Canadian Walmarts, Corps of Engineers, etc) and combined them into one file. That became the base for my planning of after that.
Well the newer push pin files would not run with the older MS S&T so I was forced to go to MS S&T 2010. After loading the 2010 version I could not figure out how to combine the files together that I wanted to use and still keep the specialized icons.
Then I discovered:

It solved all of my problems and more. I also do not have to combine any files now. I haven' added the Black list to it yet
It is really neat to be able to turn off and on the various types of push pins at will. That is all I use now.
