Thanks to all who offer suggestions. First, I have a good rebuild electrical shop. They have tested and reuilt a number of starters and alternators I sold at GMC conventions. did not wish to sell parts condition of which was unknown.
Secondly, I do not have a second engine battery up front. I do have two almost new 6 volt deep cycle batteries by the generator but they do not seem to be connected to the battery boost switch as nothing happens when I push it.
Thirdly, as the isolator function, I read, is to separate two engine batteries for charging purposes, and I don't have a second engine battery, my A/C guy swapped connections on the isolator to have power on the third terimal only-in turn powering the dash A/C.
Mayhaps, this is the reason for my alteernator low voltage output but I am afraid to alter it as my electrical knowledge is soooo limited. Will sort it all out when we get back to Houston as we are in College Station, in the GMC,for my 50th class reunion. Thanks so much, guys.
