Looks great. I've just posted some pics on the photo site as well that attempts to show differences in the original and 16" replacement rims that may help explain the differences in steel wheel profiles. I haven't had my coach out of storage this year, so I can't tell you what fits and doesn't (yet!).

Do you have more of these used 16" rims for sale? Enough for CBWoodSR to get 5 more and 6 for me? How much for each?
Thanks.

| jimk,
Do you have enough (or can you acquire enough) of the 16" steel wheels to list, stock, and sell them from your appliedgmc website? It just seems to me that more people could get into 16" wheels for $85 per rim than the prices of the aluminum rims. Is there some advantage to the aluminum rims that makes them worth 2.5 - 4 times the cost of steel rims?

You need to realize that the comparison of a used bare steel rim
against a new Aluminum wheel complete with new lug nuts, center caps
and valve stem is not really a good evaluation.
Steel wheels are stamped out and are not very true.
Aluminum wheels are lighter and dissipates heat from the brake.

Besides the advantages of Aluminium wheels rounder, straighter, stronger, prettier (for most), if selected correctly you do not need to worry about pilot hole size... The shipping of the extra weight will eat into any savings of going with steel wheels. Costs of 'trimmings" to make the "steelies" look good "eats" even more... most likely to the point of making Aluminium look cheap.
Basicly cost isn't a good reason to look for 16 inch steel wheels.
Some people like the look of clean painted (powered coated?) wheels with chrome beauty rims and nice (chrome?) lugs. Sets your coach apart from the crowd. I can see that... might even do it.

| Thinking out load here.... If I convince myself that I need to replace my 16.5" steel rims with 16" rims (to get myself better availability of replacements in case of a blowout or something on the road), then cost is going to drive the decision more than aesthetics. And safety and practicality are going to drive cost. Running true and dissapating heat are vaild reasons to consider aluminum. Prettier is irrelavent - I don't want to spend my gas money on shiny wheel covers, lug nuts and center caps, etc.
Bottom line is I need new tires. I can get 8.75R16.5 tires (load range D, which is sufficient for my 23') in the range of $140 each.
I would prefer to migrate to 16" tires to give me more options for replacements (8.75R16.5 tires are hard to find in many areas and getting scarcer).
Right now, I can spend about $840 (plus tax and mounting) to stay on the road for tens of thousands more miles with my 16.5" rims. If I could migrate to 16" for $1000 (7 tires AND rims), it might be worthwhile. Much more than that and I won't have enough gas money to get out of site of the house.

Mark if you check junk yards that have heavy pickups (duallys, 3500) and also check Craigslist; you should be able to pick up 16" dually steel wheels for less than $50 a piece. I looked at 4 last week for 35 each. Then replace your tires 2 at time?

| That's the current plan. I know what to look for (domed, not truncated cones). The one that CBWoodSR got from jimk looks great, and the price is pretty good, but I am afraid shipping would put it out of my price range. If I can get 7 rims over the course of the Summer, I will be a happy camper. Pun intended.
