There are only 3 GMCs still at the park, ours being one.
We had what turned out to be double failure, alternator and battery.
First Timers from New Hampshire had a rear brake line break.
Eric Tanner changed his steering box.
John Sharpe took apart and fixed someone's steering column.
Paul Array blew an air bag in New Orleans on the way home.
Dan had dash A/C problems.
JimK lost a turbo in Bakersfield and so half his parts did not make the convention.
Williard Murdock's GMC got smashed by a tractor while fueling at a Wal-Mart. It seeems like Joe Country drove his tractor in for fuel, got off to start it, but it was in gear and it crashed into Williard while he was sitting in the driver's seat. True story. I'm sure this one will generate more comment. I'm told they got some radiator and power steering hoses and began limping home. This apparently happened yesterday. What a nightmare!
We will head for Houston now, confident the "Yellow Rose" will make it with her new parts....Michael at GEMRECS

BTW "GEMRECS1" came in 2nd in the Men's Pinewood Derby and 5th overall. Not bad for a first timer. I also won the jackpot at Bingo the last night it was held, $40. We sold two new "Fishing Cabinets" and did pretty well in sales.

Kudos to Kim Weeks on her first convention. She did a wonderful, thorough job. Next in September, Goshen, Indiana near Elkhart where all the RV factories are.

Michael, thanks for the report. It was good having you parked near us so I could ride your scooter. Man, I really wanted to buy one of those, just couldn't turn loose of the gas money.
I guess we could call this a "work rally". It was fun. Sorry to hear about Willard and the tractor.
See you in Goshen,
Dan

I read this as the women did fairly well. (3 of the top 4.)

I forgot to order a kit with my last "Applied" order. Need to remember next time, so I'll be ready when (NOT IF) I make it to a rally with a track.

Michale,
Good seeing you again.
I second re. Kim Weeks, since she is in charge, I saw what good work
she is doing.
I felt that she was the right selection last time, now from the
feedback we gather from the people that worked with her, I'm convinced
we have a real winner of a Executive director.
Her Husband is not too shabby either, he is on top of things and know
he will establish his own area to form a great team.
At the board meeting, we saw how knowledgeable she is of or by laws, etc.
I'm sure that if I do not behave, she will unbutton her top and slap
my head with her breast, I'm only dreaming.

Michael,

Thanks a bunch for the report! I really hated leaving there yesterday with
you out of commission. But glad to hear that you really did have things
"well in hand".

We were much luckier than those with catastrophies -- had none; sailed home
without a glitch. We spent last night at Keesler AFB and had dinner (mostly
all the King Crab we could eat) at a small casino two miles away. The final
350 miles home today were painless.

You really should have mentioned the Overall Winner: Laurie Burton arrived
at Patterson with both feet in the air she was so high on confidence that
she was going to win. And win she did -- by far the fastest in every heat
she was in, beating every male and female competitor. Even after her
Pinewood GMC ran off the end of the track and crashed to the floor during
practice. She was really "flying" after the win. :-)

I, too, compliment Kim highly for her performance. Great convention!
