what is all the BS about the biggest Crawdad guy.

Those of us here on the left coast , bay area, have our own Crawdad Festival
(crawdads imported from LA) , so we know from where we talk.

A real Crawdad Person :>) is not how many tons of Crawdad's, they can
eat,(any wuss tourist can do this) , but is defined by the eater who:

'SUCKS HEAD"

Yes, no mater how it sounds , this is the definition of a real "Crawdad
Person"

so now, who was the greatest Crawdad Person......?

Crawdad Person

All I can say to that is, you all must lead boring lives on the "Other
Coast" if eating waterborne insects is all that it is cracked up to be. Why
don't you try eating some of those flying bugs that gather around the
exterior lights on your screened in porches in the spring & summer months?
<GRIN> Here in Oregon we have Dungeness crab, line caught King salmon,
Geoducks, clams, the best oysters in the world, Copper river sockeye salmon,
fresh vegetables in season, (we don't have to resort to eating possom
innards or dandelion greens for something to eat.) Just kidding, I kinda
like crawfish myself, but the ones we catch out here come from glacier fed
streams and might not quite have the same flavor as the ones from your part
of the country. I saw a documentary once where after the rice harvest, the
fields were flooded and crawdads were stocked, kinda like crop rotation.
Don't know if that is common practice there.

I heard a story about the folks in Oregon wanted to have lobsters in their waters. So they imported thousands of live lobster from back east and dumped them in the ocean. Several months later, a survey was done to see how the lobsters were doing. Not very well. They were all dead. Seems the people that put them in the water, didn't take the rubber bands off their claws and the lobsters could pick up any food.
Or maybe this happened up here in BC.....

Here in Chicago, we have Coho Salmon from Lake Michigan that have enough PCBs in them to make an entire electrical grid of transformers! Eating those (and all the deep dish pizza and sausages) shows who are the real food junkies (idiots?). Very Happy

Nah, I believe that what Steven is referring to is what our environmental
friendly U.S. Navy discharges from their ships into the oceans of the world.

Chuck,
I have looked everywhere for rattler. My brother in law has bugged me for
two years to find a place that serves it or where he can buy it. How do you
cook it once you get it?

The Cowboy Cafe in Sedona, AZ has a great rattlesnake appetizer!
Tastes kind of like Gator IMHO!

Sounds like a good vacation idea to go to one of the rattlesnake roundups and buy rattlesnake meat. Terlingua & Sweetwater both have them, but I don't know the details. As far as crayfish, there used to be a place near Frankston, Tx. that raised them commercially & sells them by the pound. It's been a while since I was there, tho... I believe they would ship them at one time.

Rob Mueller can verify this but I understand that in Australia they like to put the nether end of certain a weaver or green ant to their tongue and it tastes like strong tangy limeaid. I am told that it is somewhat additive. I understand that they also eat Witchetty grubs in Australia.

And some think Crawdads are bad!

Jake's Famous Crayfish in Portland Oregon not only serves these little things, but also is a top end seafood place. If you can't get to Louisiana for your fix, this is an alternative. We dissected crayfish in a science class and the only thing I remember about them is they were considered a lower order animal because...their digestive system exhausts ahead of their mouth...considered by some to be less than sanitary.
