The storm this week damaged my awning -- on one end the rivets broke that hold the spring device into the roller and the other end appears to have bent the shaft the spring resides on. This is the simple A&E awning without any locking levers.
I have read the article here..

http://www.rverscorner.com/RV_awning_Repair.html

It would appear I can remove the damaged rivets, re-insert the spring shaft and use a pop rivet gun to fasten, then try to figure out how to rewind the spring -- I think this model may only use a cotter pin through the shaft, so maybe just wind using with the help of vise grips and get a new cotter pin (?)

Any other tips before I begin to attempt repairs?

The damage photo doesn't show much detail...

Thank you.

Dennis,

When I had problems with mine I contacted Dometic customer support and they
helped me with copies of the manual.

Give them a call.
