My motorhome has holes for side engine vents right above the front wheel. Not inside the fender well but actually cut into the side of the coach. The hole measures 7 7/8 long and 2 high. Any help in finding the a vent to fit this hole or bigger if necessary?
Thanks

JimK @ Applied GMC in California also carries stainless vents. Ragusa also has some cast aluminum vents available. I'm not sure of the dimensions of these, so check before ordering so they fit the cutouts in your coach.

Hey Rob,
I carry a vent similar to the "seafit" model West carries but it's a 3 louver
one, shorter and I feel fits the fender better. They are $18 where the West
model is $34! Wow, didn;t know I was so cheap! There is an inner wall at the
fender so the larger ones really do not pull any more air-- just my opinion.
They are listed on my parts page.

Jim,
I knew that, I pointed him at the West Marine site because the "hole" in his
coach was 7 7/8" x 2" and they have all kinds of sizes of vent.
Of course they’re more expensive than you or Jim, they sell stuff for
yachts!
Yachties have serious bucks and LOVE to spend it!
I have a Mate up in the Gold Coast who has a fifty foot Rivera and it costs
him TWO GRAND in diesel to take it anywhere!

Is not the intention for the vents to allow hot air OUT
of the engine compartment to help avoid vapor lock?

Mac,
Yes and also to look great! While it's true that eliminating the last bend for
the air to evacuate the engine compartment is helpful-- pulling heat out can
only help, heat control in our engine compartment is not a big problem. We are
not solving a problem like a Vette with an old 454 motor shoehorned in or a
Corvair air cooled motor under the back floor. Our 454 and 403 motors are sort
of out in the air if you look at their compartments from the bottom. Hot air
has an good excape route and the wheel liner was designed to help pull air out
and vent the compartment. Many people will decide to install vents for their
look or should I say that is the last strw to help make the decision. I feel
the 3 louver vent really looks manly-- a stainless steel spot on the sides of
the coach adds to the styling of the coach but of course that is a subjective
statement and you can do anything you like.
A side vent is not someting I would call an automatic "must have", it does do
something but don;t think of yourself as bad if you do not want to have them.
