I just got a call from Fred Snyder at Snyders RV in VB.

He says he needs the space and he will sell me the coach for $2000

I don't really have the time for this project but if someone here does not jump on this then I'm gonna' buy a box of sawzall blades and write him a check.

I am 50 miles away. i will provide ground support for a buyer.

I would even consider letting someone move it to my place for a month or two as long as we had an wife-proof agreement that would prevent me from getting stuck.

See my other posts on this for more details

my cell is two five two -339-639 six anytime before 7:pm

If you are interested.

Hi Dave,
Great price, just the distance versus 'the unknown(s)' that makes it frustratingly difficult for me.

I'm still for it being saved rather than cut up though as it appears to be more or less 'all there'.

I fished this out of an old post (74 Eleganza) for all to ponder. http://davesilva.com/eleganza/

Are you considering this coach that Dave Silva mentioned? I plan to take a look Saturday if possible. I will let you know how it is. You would have first dibs if you want, since I have one almost working coach.
Sam Williams is also checking it out, I think.

Ok all. I put a deposit on this coach Friday morning. I didn't see that Sammy was interested, sorry. It's way closer to being ready to roll than the 23'. That may be quite sometime as it has set at best guess for 10 years or more with little done except minor cobbled together repairs it's entire life. Not giving up on it, just realize that it's going to a long term project.
I do plan on driving it back home to Missouri, so I may need a little assistance along the way. After talking to Dan and the dealer it may even need a bit of help to get it rolling. This is where you all come in. I need to find a mechanic that is willing to go over there and get it started. I know it will need a battery, and I'm sure the gas is bad. Mr Snyder as offered the use of any tools and the lift there. So if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
Marsha

So you now have a 23 foot AND a 26 foot?

Welcome to the Two Coach Club!

Just a note:
One of the earlier listings stated it was a "74 Eleganza." It IS an Eleganza but a 1974 Eleganza would be an "SE" not a "II". The Vin (TZE) shows it as a VERY early 1975 model (#54) built in Aug 1974. It should have most of the "good" changes put in for the 1975 model year. (The front seats are a bit different.)

Its OK, let us know how they work out. I found another coach closer to
me, its twice the price though, but owner says its had rebuilt
mechanicals about 15,000 miles ago. Ill keep the list apprised on it
too as I work on getting that (ever ellusive) GMC to darken my

Thanks for not being upset. Couldn't stand having another GMCer holding a grudge against me.
Trip home may be interesting. Let's see.. a coach that hasn't run in 3 or more years,1,200 miles, and I know nothing about engines....
Let the adventure begin!

Ok, plane ticket is bought. I am scheduled to arrive in VA on the 15th. I know I will need to buy tires and probably a battery, but I am a little worried about bad gas. Does anyone know a good mechanic in or around VA beach that would be willing to go over to Snyder's to look at the coach? Snyder has offered use of the shop and tools, but not willing to do much more.

Some people have gotten around the gas problem by running off a 5 gallon jerry can with a hose and filter to the fuel pump inlet. Maybe you could find a boat salvage yard with a tank a little bigger?
Good luck.

As if Marsha didn't have enough problems, I am her asistant for the day.

Anyone want to suggest options, checklists, etc?

If we have bad gas (most likely) What are the options? Can it be transferred to the rear tank, and capped off?

I'm not sure what our choices will be in the RV lot and I don't have a truck, so hauling a drum of gas in my wifes Expedition is going to get me in more trouble than i got in this morning when i left the windows open the night before a blinding thunderstorm.

Apprently the cup holders were full.

Sir: I would take an old boat gas tank or can, a 10' or so of fuel line, a inline electric fuel pump, battery and jumper wires, a few fuel filters, 5 or 6 fuel clamps, and a air storage tank with a blower attachment.

I would suggest cutting the fuel line a foot or so in front of the switching valve on the drivers side and blow air (with the fuel cap removed) back thru the switching valve to the tank to clear the socks. Switch the valve and blow the other tank. Then put a filter in line before the electric pump and put the discharge into the coach fuel fill. run the pump and see what comes in the filter. I would run till the filter tries to clog then blow back thru again , change the filter and pump till the filter runs clear, do the same for the other tank. Then pump the old gas out of the tanks into something to discard some where. Install a new filter. Before starting the coach change the filter in the carb and replace the rubber fuel lines in the LF wheel well and the rubber piece at the fuel pump. I would also prime the carb with fresh fuel by filling the bowl thru the vent tube.

Good luck..

I will have my phone which has internet/email (816) 72 four 1276. I'm thinking about taking my computer, but haven't decided if it's worth it yet. The planned route is 64 to 70, but that is always subject to change ;)

Marsha,

What ever you do...Don't leave home without it. The Black List that is!!!

Taking the computer is a good idea. You can get a 12 volt/120 volt inverter
for under $50. Lowe's HD, WalMart. It will provide enough power to run a
laptop off the cigar lighter - or direct from the battery. And charge your
cell phone.

Help!
I am getting ready to go (flight is on the 18th)  and need some advice. Suggestions on what to check, what to bring, ect...
I have the black list, my computer and cell phone, a small inverter, an AP cable, know I need a battery and tires. This coach is pretty much an unknown so everything thing you can think of will be helpful.
Please be as detailed as possible (thanks for the details on blowing out the bad fuel) as I can follow directions, but my mechanical knowledge is limited.
Dave Silva has generously offered to assist my in my endeavor to further rise to a new level of craziness. Tom Phipps said he would also try to be there. So I'm not totally on my own. But I need all the help I can get.
Marsha

Get Triple AAA. Really. I have it and helps a LOT. (I have AAA Premier
RV) for when I get my GMC. Take a GPS with you (electronic) If you
wish you can get one that helps you avoid traffic snarls and
construction-- GPS is a godsend. Also get a "extra" battery for your
cell phone or one of those USB chargers that are portable for your
phone. (In the event the coachs power dies and you need that power its
cheap insurance)

and finally Keep the "black List" handy.

Good Luck

Oh! Take LOTS of pics of your trip! Make it memorable for US GMC listers too!!
