I'd also agree that the wing was not a good idea. I don't think they have been doing anything to the motorhome (if they are still there) since that record.
Nevertheless, it's quite a feat to get something that big to reach 100mph! Gotta give them their due rewards.

from what i have heard he was only in 2nd gear at 103 MPH! he ran out of money so didn't come back. i think the coach was on e-bay several years ago.

Ken B,
I am going to drive 60mph to Luisiana to save gas.
It is an Ornamental thing to push all the way on gas or brake. Maybe a
cruse control will be the fix. Everytime I snag one and lay it in my
coach, we run out and they sell it.

JimK touches on a good point, with $4+ a gallon gas one might wanna, and being the speed addict that I am I never thought I would say this, drive a touch slower! I think hell just froze over since I just said that. Anyhow a personal experience last weekend proved it. I normally cruise at about 80mph in my mustang on long open road trips, and I usually get 19.5-20 mpg in my 1990 5 Liter. Well running a little slower netted me almost a 25% gain in milege. Over 305 miles for the first leg of my trip I got 23.8 mpg at 75 mph, and on the second I averaged 25.5 mpg at 70! For an average of 24.4 over the entire trip. It seems 70 mph is the sweet spot for cars with overdrive trans missions. So I would guess the sweet spot for our Coaches is between 55-65 mph depending on gearing...

David,
I did not have anything to do with they demise, they needed no help with that.
I have no love loss there, I was involved with the LSR coach in helping retrieve
it down in the Keys and get it Squim until they did not pay for parts I put in
the coach-- that ended my involvement. I also feel good about fueling the
creative idea of going for the record. I do love exposing our classic machine
to extreme venues showing how unique the GMC is and how it can be reinvented for
use today. It's a huge feather in our hat that the GMC holds the motorhome LSR
record also the coach holds the 1/4 drag race speed record at 21.88. This
record was set last month here in Orlando at a Sunshine Statesmen rally. Many
things we all can be proud of and we should also use this as proof how unique
our machines are.
Dyno Sources idea was a good one but their execution was flawed-- there should
though be credit given for the foreword thought,
Jim Bounds

I do not believe they are in business anymore.
Also, I do believe that JimB had something to do with this.
