Has three terminals...
I hooked the two larger wires to the back terminal and the right front terminal and the one smaller wire to the front left terminal
but it would start and run as long as I held in the start button, would die when I released it.
Next??

One possibility is that the board is not seeing an output from the flywheel generator which it uses to sense whether the unit is running. Was it running ok before?

In your last message you said:
"mine doesnt/didnt have two wires together on one terminal"
HOWEVER, you now say that you have three terminals and four wires. So,
you must have had two wires together on one of the terminals.
I also have a 1977 Kingsley and it did indeed have two wires on one of
the terminals. Long ago I eliminated the voltage charger/regulator.
I have my leg in a steel brace so I cannot get out to my Gmc right now
to look at the two wires that are taped off together. Would someone
else reading this that still has their voltage regulator connected on
a 1977 please go out to their Onan and report where their wires are
connected in order to try to help Charles get his reconnected properly.
Two of the wires are connected to a clip that then goes to one of the
terminals. Please identify if that terminal is male or female and if
the two wires are the larger wires.

Chuck, I sort of lost track of how this all started, but why not just put it back to how it was when it was running great?

Ok, now I understand what happened. Need to look at mine but IIRC mine looked just like what Gene has on his site.

The connector on the top LOOKS like the feed to the FUEL PUMP or the fuel cut off solenoid. You say it starts so the pump is connected, has the solenoid been removed?
The other THREE wires look just like the the THREE wires going to the voltage regulators all three of my Onans.
I have only disconnected the regulator on one, but all I did was unplug and tape them up... separately.
I understand there are a couple of different wiring harnesses on the Onan. Some have the output of the flywheel alternator split in the harness, others have it split at the voltage regulator. If you have the second type, you'll have FOUR wires at the regulator... two connected to a clip that connects to the regulator. THESE two wires must be connected to provide the control board the AC "engine running" signal.

The black wire is the fuel pump lead..
do you know which two wires need to be together of the 4 wires that I have?
