I've seen a lot of discussion as to a five year life expectancy for tires on this site. The PO of my coach had Leigh Harrison's quad system installed in the mid nineties. I notice surface cracking on the Firestone bags. Any thoughts as to whether the air bags are subject to the same or similar life span?

For years we have been saying six years for tires. Does this mean we
have just lost 17% of our tire life suddenly with a mention of 5 years?

I don't think you can compare tire life to airbag life. Many people
are still running over 30 years on their original Firestone airbags.
Mine lasted 33 years before one failed. I replaced the other one last
year too.

Steel belted tires absorb moisture causing the fine steel strands to go rusty and break down.
It's just good insurance to update the tires.
Plus, the damage that a blown out tire can cause....
