Does anyone know the name & part number of the part in the steering column that has a reputation for breaking thatgoes between the plastic key switch cog & the operating rod to the switch? Will I need to get a whole column just to get it?

I was a thinkin if you remove the external clip off the plastic gear and slide it off you might be able to fish the rack in without pulling the pins. Be carefull of the key buzzer spring and the slide spring under the switch rack. They are easy to fall off when taking apart. A little grease helps. Its a good idea to take a pic of the wire spring on the plastic gear before removing if you haven`t been there before. Its weird. Also take a pic of the tin cover next to the tilt lever. Good Luck..

No such luck on not having to pull the pins. I gotta tighten those stupid bolts anyway, plus the broken piece is still in there...Besides, from the look of the grease, it could all use a good greasing, so I might as well do it the right way. In for a penny, in for a pound...
