Why am I even thinking about these mods? We leave our pump on all the time. Are we supposed to cut it off? I need to figure out why I am going to fix this.

I usually turn my pump off at night since it cycles occasionally even though I can't find any leak--I suspect the pump is leaking back internally. Since I already had a toggle switch in there, I always left it on at night and I'd be too lazy while half asleep to turn it off.

Jim, that pic is what got my mind going on the idea

Lights, fans, anything you don't want to forget and leave on. Just make sure you get the switch where you have to crank the knob around to set the timer. Pushbutton ones will not work on 12VDC. They are also available in a 12hr version as well as the 60 minute style.

I was thinking about using a timer relay latch ckt so I can engage it from anywhere, but that will draw current for the relay even when the pump is off. Good Idea Bob. Does that timer make any noise as it us unwinding?

All the ones I have used click like a twist set kitchen timer. Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click-Click- well you get the idea. You will be aware it is timing down.
