Had wiped out both Harbor Freight casters on the last trip, and was about to click on "place Order" for a couple of Grainger swivel casters at $48.95 each (PN 2649)when the princess said "why don't you check with the guys on the net to see if there are better/cheaper ones somewhere?" So does any one have a source to share? Also, is 1000 pound load weight enough?
Thanks for your input

Bobby, I saw something slick at Applied last month. Instead of wheels it is a hard rubber pad about 4 inches thick. 25 bux I think. Use them til they wear down too low and get another set. If I needed rollers I would try those pads from Jim.

Chuck and other 23 ft coach owners,

Any of you find a need for the drag blocks or casters?
I see no evidence my 73, 23 ft, has ever drug the frame.

I like the looks of the blocks.

Drags the very back of the hitch assembly now and then. More of a
design flaw of my hitch than anything else...

But no - my Short Bus version of a GMC doesn't do this.

I thought the pads were a good answer unless you rub daily. I will see if I can get Jim to bring some to Patterson. I drag going into our driveway, sometimes, if I have the ball hitch in for the vdub. It is a 4 inch drop. With the thru the bumper hitch I never drag with coach alone. I ripped all of the PO installed stuff out frrom under there so there is nothing to hit anyway. The Maserator is up high.

I rarely drag in my 73 26 foot GMC.  My rare dragging and those of the PO have rubbed the frame quite thin.  I installed the blocks Dan mentioned about 8 months ago.  It was fairly easy and inexpensive.  I am now dragging twice as much since the low spot is the blocks.  That means I drag about 3 times a year.  One drag was serious enough that it would have made my frame quite thin; it took about an eighth of an inch off of the pads.  I think they are plastic.  One of the best and most economical upgrades I have made.  If I had put in casters, I expect I would have dragged more since they extend down further than the pads.

I made a set of those drag blocks and installed them several years ago. Mine were a 1/4 moon shape and about 2.5" thick. I made them that shape only because the piece of material I got for free was about an 8" circle. I suggest that you get the rectangular ones that Jim K sells. They should be more than adequate and you will save a lot of time trying to fabricate your own. Mine have a few scratch marks in them but other than that have held up well. Also mine are white and the black ones Jim sells will never be noticed underneath the coach.

I don't think I have ever dragged the rear of my coach so I'm a bit surprised how many people who have provisions for that.

Thanks for that report Doug. I am going to make sure Jim brings me a set to Patterson. I like the fact that they really won't show. I think Ken mentioned that. We have a little dip so the water can run by, at the end of our drive, at the street. I have put a few gouges in the street when the 4 inch drop hitch is inserted. Maybe these will rub and stop that.

G'day,

I had problems with the 3" sewer dump on Double Trouble dragging entering
and leaving gas stations on crowned roads. I was going to fit some rollers
but stumbled on the blocks that Bert & Faye Curtis make and sold by Jim K.

I have a Blaine Merrill through the bumper hitch and decided to get one
extra block made to bolt to the bottom of the bumper hitch as the sewer dump
is right next to it.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=28381

The block is NOT installed yet. I'll take a picture once I get it installed.

Bob your not driving a camper, stay away from the swivel casters and
get a roller wheel that looks and works good.
I'm not at a place where I can send you pictures of one.
There are Urethane blocks the you can also use that look good and work well.
