The saga continues. We just got back from a Dr visit and Lisa will be having surgery on Tuesday to insert 3 pins into her wrist. She is bummed out, both from the physical side and then the impact it will have on our vacation plans. Basically the vacation time will now be used for surgery and recovery. We had planned to head to TN and Georgia for a week but now it will be spent at home. She has not fully recovered from the effects of her previous surgery and now she has to go under again. One bone has displaced and the knob on the wrist bone is still detached. She has no rotational ability in her wrist and there is concern that a tendon or ligament has detached. The bone doc is sending her to a wrist specialist on Monday who will do the surgery on Tuesday or Wednesday depending on if they use a surgical suite or the hospital.

Wayne,
Missing the rally and trip is disappointing but really no big deal.
Sorry to hear of Lisa's on going problems. Hopefully this surgery will solve the problem.
I sympathize with her; I once spent a miserable year in a full leg cast and on crutches after a car vs motorcycle collision.
Help her keep smiling it will be better soon.

Today was an interesting day. Lsa had an appointment with the wrist specialist and his first comment was "interesting case". It seems that a lot more is going on than we first thought and he walked us through all the possibilities. The good news is that they took the cast off and replaced it wth one that goes to her shoulder. That imobilized the wrist so she can not rotate it. There was almost immediate relief from a majority of the pain. Off course, taking the cast off with the bone floating was no picnic for Lisa. Once the cast was off he could examine it a little more closely. The determinaton is that on Friday surgery is scheduled at Albany Medical Center where he will put a plate and screws on the big bone and then use two pins to hold the little one in place to the big one. He also feels he will need to do a carpal tunnel release as the nerves are affected in all of her fingers. There will be two significant incisions under the cast when he is done, one for the plate and screws and one for the carpal tunnel. He will also look at the tendons and ligaments and make a decision at that tme if any corrective measures are called for. Lisa will be in a soft cast with her palm up for a week after the surgery and then I am not sure what happens after that. The Doc is also concerned about nerve damage and something called NSD. He is hoping that by removing the hard cast today it will lessen the chances of lasting nerve flair ups. This will be a long process and he can not guarantee that he will not have to go back in and work on the little bone again. It all depends on how well things line up and how well her ligaments and tendons function to hold things in place.
Thanks all for your expressions of concerns and your prayers. They are appreciated.

Thanks for the update. It does sound like something "interesting" and
involved.
It sounds like he knows what to do to bring about restored use of the hand,
wrist and arm. There will be time spent in PT before all this is over.
