Jim posted a moving account of the loss of his wife, Mary. It may
get missed by some under the Gas Prices thread. It is a sad, yet
uplifting message.

I am so sorry to hear that. I have not read that thread as it was of no interest to me.
We will keep Jim in our prayers. I know it is tough for him and his family. Thanks for posting in its own thread.

Jim, You and your family are in my prayers.

My first love died in '09 from breast cancer and I literally am feeling once again your and my loss.

I was blest by the love of a woman who was also a planner and organizer. So, when the outcome baring a miracle of physical healing was sure, she organized me to live on and live for God.

That's one reason why I hope to get a GMC. . .

Adios. . .

This was the message from Jim tucked in another thread. Tim thanks for separating this and bringing it to the forefront.
It reminds us of the comfort the GMC and the GMC community bring to our lives in a time of need. Our thoughts are with you Jim.

His message:

Here is my take on this thread, which I notice has 100 entries so far and counting. On Friday the 4th, I took my GMC to OHSU hospital and parked in their 6 space RV lot, in order to be close to Mary during her most difficult time. It allowed me a place to"stand down", a security blanket, call it a refuge from the storm, put your own label on it, But it was close at hand and familiar because of all the hours that we had invested into restoration.
Our dog was happy to see me when I came back to it, I was close enough to Mary that when her condition worsened I was able to be at her bedside when she passed from this world, instead of stuck in traffic on Interstate 5 on the lonely drive from Salem to Portland. A calm port in a very savage storm. If gasoline had been $10.00 a gallon I would have gladly paid the price for
the privelage of being present for Her when the need was the greatest. She passed away at 11:55 PM on Saturday night, her earthly cares and suffering are finally at an end. I was able to go back to my GMC and get some greatly needed rest before attempting the trip back home. I don't know if you can
place a value on this, but In my heart I know that I was able to be at her bedside when it mattered most because of the GMC. This experience will be stored in my box full of GOOD MEMORIES. Can't spend em, but they are worth all the King's gold to me.

Hey Jim;

Diana and I are both so sorry that we did not get to meet Mary when
we had our tire problem in Salem last year. We were lucky enough to
meet you on one of your daily trips to the hospital to be with her.
Your love for her was quit evident. Our thoughts are with you.

Dear Jim, I tried to send a "private message" to you, but your site does not allow it. Just be sure you know that you have good friends on this site and value your friendship and knowledge. Our condolences to you and your family at this trying time.

George, you might try jamesh1296@gmail.com I usually do not have too many
emails blocked, most shuttle off to spam folder where I can elect whether to
open them or send em to the place where most of them belong, the trash bin.
I really appreciate and gather strength from all of you in this crazy
disfunctional family we all know as the GMCnet.

Thanks for pointing out his message.

Jim understands that one of God's richest blessings is that of a good
memory. Yes, it is priceless.

No the time of adjustment begins mixed with gratitude for years past in
spite of a certain void because the opportunity to touch, see and hear, just
one more time, is gone.

Jim,

I'm so sorry. There are no words that will make the hurt go away, but do try to remember the good times and experiences that you both had and loved. The next few months are going to be hard and many things will not make sense at times. Just know that you have a lot of friends here in the GMC family. They helped me thru my loss and we will help and support you thru yours. My cell phone is with me 24 hours a day if you feel the need to talk to someone. ....and my e-mail is checked a few times a day. Your time is my time if you ever need it.

Hi Jim, I think the problem is in the way you setup your account; they're two places where one can block emails and one must answer "yes" in both places to accept emails through the GMC net. Of course that't your choice and I'll keep your addy handy when I need it.

Jim,

My heartfelt condolences go out to you.

I too lost my wife of 30 years and it is tough to keep going, but do not despair. Try to remember the great times you had together and you will make it through the gloomy days.
