Hallo all, we are on trhe road again!
Tom came over yesterday afternoon with a brand new radiator and helped me get it into place. He than went with my wife to go and have a bracket modified so that the altenator could be installed again. He left after making sure it fitted.
This morning I mounted the altenator and got a new, longer serpentine belt and the correct coolant, as per Gene’s instructions. After charging the batteries with the onan and the rental car. we managed to start the beast again. It turnrd out there was no apparant damage to the heads or head gaskets, so after having run it for about half an hour we went en route. We did about 150 miles today, after stocking up on water, LP and diesel. So far all is going well.
Thank you all for your support and especially Tom for being such a good Black Lister.
We’ll keep you posted.

Marc,
Congratulations & hopes that your luck will hold for the rest of the trip.
All kudos to Tom for his outstanding performance! His contributions to
help Marc prevented the possibility of a situation like the one he suffered
a few months back: 800 miles from home with a blown engine and family
scheduling constraints, he wound up selling his GMC on the spot and is now
coachless. :-(
Now if he'll just tell us which replacement model he wants, we can help
repay him by searching for exactly the right one, cheap. :-)

Marc,
This is REALLY great news! Hopefully the rest of your trip to New Mexico is
BORING! Well at least from the technical problem point of view. ;-)
When the dust settles we would all like your opinion as to what caused the
water pump shaft to shear.
All the best to you, Puck, and your furry four legged "daughter;" what's her
name by the way.
Regards,
Rob M.

Marc had purchased a Dex-Cool replacement. I convinced him to return it and get Prestone. Glad to see he did.
