G'day,

I get lots of forwarded emails from friends that I find hard to believe.

My normal routine is to check Snopes:

http://www.snopes.com/

If what they say makes more sense than the email I'll usually Reply All and
send the Snopes link back.

If I am leery I go to:

http://www.truthorfiction.com

and see what they have to say.

If I'm really leery (Timothy Leary's younger brother) I go to:

www.hoax-slayer.com/

Then there's also:

http://urbanlegends.about.com/

Here's what Truth or Fiction has to say about Snopes:

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/s/snopes.htm

Rob,
Thanks for the

http://urbanlegends.about.com/

I had not heard of that one before.

This whole thing is my fault. I broke my own cardinal rule about passing on info received in emails and got bit. I had it coming. I usually follow your routine and stick it back in the faces of those passing on bad information. Just didn't look deep enough. My original intent (which I did not fully explain) was that maybe someone on this forum might have information that could show one way or the other the truth of the matter. This forum is not the place for that.

My sincere apologies to all who were offended by this. It was not my intent.

As a 5th Generation bleeding-heart California Left Wing Nut Job Liberal who was born in SAN FRANCISCO, has straight friends, gay friends, Mormon friends, Catholic friends, Atheist friends - AND- a friend with an SOB I can say that California is the home of more GMC Motorhomes than any other state, and is therefore the most correct state, and the official State of Good Taste. If you've ever tipped the neck of a California wine bottle into your jug, you'll know California tastes good! (You should try our Gin!)

I know this to be true because I read it on the internet, and Snopes did not deny it. For all I know Mr. Black is a shill for the Revconeers, and is doing the work of that evil Dave Silva, the butcher from the EAST (remember the Wicked Witch and what a traveling house did to her...), but Snopes did not deny it, so I think it is true.

Therefore, as a Self-Appointed representative of the State of Good Taste (we have more GMC's - proof beyond a shadow of a doubt) I declare that California is the one true Oracle - source of all things good. Jim K is in California, his men have worked on my coach, his women have entertained me (don't ask) and my coach runs well. Proof, yet again, that this is Nirvana.

I have had enough California bashing from wannabe's and jealous haters who think that their outhouse outshines our gleaming cities on the hills. How many GMC Motorhomes point their beautiful noses west to gander at the Golden Gate? How many wade in the warm beaches of Malibu? Perhaps marvelous Humboldt County whose plant life has attracted the likes of John Muir and Jerry Garcia. We have lake Tahoe, where Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra shared a hot tub, and Hollywood where many people shared a tub with her. Let's face it - everyone want's to be in California. Mickey Mouse was born here (in many ways) and we've been governed by a Moonbeam, a chimpanzee co-star, a Governator, and a Moonbeam - (we love sequels!)

Our freeways (and they are free) test the GMC's mettle over a friendly sounding "Grapevine", no need to show badges over the Pacheco Pass, or drive up past the worlds largest thermometer in Baker (though it wasn't working last year - I blame budget cuts.) Want to get low? Go to Badwater, the lowest point on the continental 48 states. Want to get high? Mt Whitney is the highest point in the contiguous 48 states, though a trip to Humboldt County can get you there too ;~)

All of these are easily accessible in a GMC Motorhome. Come to California. The tax dollars you spend on gas are badly needed;~)

Don't know whether to praise your efforts to entertain us, knowing full well
that Hollowood is the entertainment capitol of the world, or to pity you
with the fear that the smog has affected you, (fuzzy thinking) or maybe you
have just shriveled away like the california raisins from spending too much
time in communal hot tubs with Charlie Sheen & the like.<GRIN>

I was going to say that I thought Rob's email was a real keeper. I want to
send that to all my left- and right-winged political friends.

Then I read Larry Davick's reply. Now I have two keepers. Both are excellent
in their own way.

Truth and humor. Amazing.

Rob,
That has been my stance since the first attack I rec'd on SNOPES.
My personal policy, which, by the way, has never failed, is that if an email
in any way says to "pass this on", or attacks any group or person, it is
most likely false and I always treat it as such. I check nearly all the
rest out with SNOPES.
How many times have you all rec'd the infamous "Hanoi Jane" email?
