I'm home sick today so I have too much free time.

I called Snyders RV and spoke to Gerry Snyder about the 74 eleganza

We went back and forth a bit about the price of aluminum and the NEW Jasper engine, front end work, bushings, etc.

I very politely educated him on the state of the marketplace and I think he believed me, he came down to $2500

Anybody interested?

It's not getting any better sitting there so I may still buy it for parts.

But it would be a shame if someone can take it whole and do something with it.

My thought is this coach is NOT prime for parts, there are part coaches out there.

If you are breaking your arm behind your back to part this coach you need to realize you can't dump it like the last one.

The front panel, the entire front end is a rare find. The rear door, the rear side pieces, where the stop lights are, are rare. the compartment doors, the door, windows, even frame parts, the body frame, bogies, dash, and on and on and on.

You cant just take what you want the discard the rest. A lot of rare pieces were discarded with the last cut up.

Unless you can show us where this coach is prime for cut-up and parting ( PROPERLY PARTING, do you have the space ), and beyond rebuild, you need to find a wreck somewhere.

Why don't you fix this one up, you seem to have a lot of money and energy right now, great project for you.

The GMC community is trying to make these coaches more popular to the point of distributing brochures. Let the newbies have a cheap coach to pick up and start with.

By parting a "good" low priced coach, you are killing advancement of the GMC Motorhome advancment. If the GMC Motorhome must die, let it be from a dead economy, gas price height or some other natural phenomenon.

I for one, first saw these coaches when I was in High School and wanted one ever since. When my chance came, I grabbed it. Let someone else have a chance to grab a dream too.

My thoughts....

Larry,

I agree completely.

I keep putting these things out there in the hope someone will move on it.

As for the last coach, if valuable parts were lost or destroyed that is regrettable, After the coach was an empty shell i offered any and all of it for free. I think Geography was an obstacle.

Some people asked for a few things and I've kept them.

Likewise, no one is interested in the $1200 coach in Delaware, it just needs brake work and mufflers to drive away.

Is there consensus is that this coach should languish indefinitely until the right person comes along?

I know that if I was a little closer to VA, I would be on my way there. I am about as green as possible and looking to get into an "entry level" GMC. (I thought I had one, went to go and pick it up and price went up 2 1/2 times! So I'm looking again). So if anyone has any ideas on how to get it (cheaply) to Missouri, let me know. I don't have lots of $$, but have a lot of determination and occasionally extra pennies to through toward something I've wanted for a long time, ever since my Barbie RV.

It's 1200 miles, most of it I40. I bet we can line the road with people willing to help you.

For my part, i would spend a day firing the coach up, make sure fuel is running, pick you up at the airport and drive you around as necessary.

I believe there are others here who would help. (tidewater crabs?)

So who else is on I 40?

Well there you go.

Who's in?

Marsha, can you raise about $3500 ?

I bet we can cover every single mile with people who would be willing to help you on the side of the road,

I'm not kidding. I can go friday and copy all the receipts and records, take more pictures, etc.

I really believe the mechanicals are in excellent /new condition, but they are untested.

Not sure about the tires. I know there are differences of opinion on this. THey are "new" with some cracking.

The story is that he did the mechanicals, started on the interior by dismantling most of it, and the died.

All the interior appears to be there.

I-40 is probably the safest drive for a GMC with all the folks along
it on the Black List. We got folks every 100 miles or so across the
whole state with multiple folks covering some areas like Memphis,
Nashville, and Knoxville areas and some in-between.

Thank you all for your gracious and wonderful offer of help getting my first, old GMC. Unfortunately my daily driver blew a head gasket (and I don't know what else yet) on my way home from the store tonight. So extra money at the current time will be going to my car. Hopefully this won't be the last opportunity for my chance to own such a wonderful, classic piece of Americana.
Thanks again,

Marsha

Dave,

I must admit that you've done a heck of a job trying to keep a GMC alive. My
hat's off to you.

BTW, I say a Clark Cortez in a Lowe's parking lot last night. It was on the
edge of the lot. It was only there a couple of hours. I pointed it out to my
wife. We drove by and took a look.

I thought it was an amazing RV in the early 70's and still do in spite of
the small size by today's standard. Well, it was small then but got a lot of
people into RVing. Though the paint wasn't so great it did have a recently
produced Coleman AC on the roof. The owner did have priorities.
