Gary,

That's great news. Between my youngest son and I, we own six vehicles that are older than 25 years old and another one that is 24 years old. The Arizona law is ridiculous in that it currently requires testing for vehicles back to 1967 model year. Plus, it only applies to the two most populous counties.

This is fantastic news! I urge everyone to please send an e-mail of support to anyone on the following list. This is one small thing that can reduce the hassles of ownership and help keep our GMC's on the road. And it keeps the rust-free ones active and available for future buyers.

Best news I've heard in a long time, but it won't become a reality without our support!

Awright you AZ guys and gals. Use the email addresses below and bomb those
guys with your support. It's the only way it's going to get passed.
Vehicles 25 plus years old simply do not make up a significant portion of
the vehicles on AZ (or US, for that matter) highways and targeting them
could not possibly result in any minute reduction in greenhouse gasses that
seems to concern so many.
All you have to do to verify the above statement is sit for a while at any
rest stop and count how many 25 plus yr old vehicles you see go by.
GO FOR IT!

When gas gets to $5/gal the 25+ yo daily drivers will be parked. There are enough fuel misers out there for the same price or less that economics will take care of so-called "gross polluters".

It'll never happen Randy.
People cling to their "restorables" and classics like lifesavers. I just
sold my 1994 9 passenger Caprice Classic wagon on Ebay. LT1 engine, easily
got 26 mpg at 65 mph with the AC on. Economics has never been a major
factor other than forcing folks to make "smarter" trips. $5 a gallon fuel
is very successful in driving up the price of econoboxes though.

I wish our New York State politicians would get some aparently uncommon "common sense" when it comes to state auto inspections. Every year I have to take my 1914 Model T Ford for state inspection. It has NO electric lights, windshield wiper, brake linings to check, etc, etc. Years ago when I drove into an inspection station, the inspector ask me to turn on the lights. I handed him a match, which confused him until I explained to him that was how you turned on the gas & kerosene lamps. Like I said, common sense might help.
