A while back I reported visiting another Cad500 owner about my GMC
installation. There were several here who were interested in the Packard he
had for sale and I promised to check on it. I finally caught up with him
yesterday.
The car is a '51 (we think) 4-door with a reportedly good-running straight-8
and good-shifting Ultramatic transmission. It was repainted 10-15 years ago
in its original color and has been stored indoors ever since. The body is
solid with no obvious serious flaws. About 1/2 of the chrome, and the tail
lights are removed but in the car. The interior is shot. The gas tank
rusted out, was repaired, and rusted out again. He recently drove the car
from the basement of his home to the current location in his huge farm
equipment garage using a boat gas tank. The wide whitewall tires all hold
air (one's leaky) but are at least 15 years old.
The deceased uncle who owned the car was an auto parts dealer, who
apparently maintained the car well. The asking price is $2500, but he
readily admits he'll take less -- I'm pretty sure $1500 will take it;
perhaps less.
Contact me off-net if you want more information, including his 'phone
number.

Rob, as I remember that Packard fairly well, it might be almost as heavy as
your GMC.<Grin>

The Gentleman selling the Packard doesnt happen to be Ladd Stevenson by any chance? He is the PO of my coach, and he literally had a ton of Packards, ranging from Show quality to parts donors he also had a couple GMC's. wonder how he is doing...

Nope, not Stevenson. This guy's just got a couple that he inherited. Says
he's been taking a financial management course that teaches "...if you're
not using it, get rid of it...". As a big farmer, packing house owner, and
operator of a demolition service, he's got LOTS to get rid of -- it just
happens to be his uncle's Packard's turn -- but not the one that belonged to
his grandfather. :-)
