Good Quality LED Lights in Cockpit? [message #116118]

How many folks are interested in good quality lights that will fit the festoon sockets near passenger and driver's head? I don't want to invest a bunmch of money if folks are not interested. this is pretty much a GMC thing only. I would like to put two 10 dollar strips in each light which will give as much light as you get now, or more, with little draw from the engine battery. Teri and I sit there to read and use these lights.

Well, I might try to make up a few myself. Got one email about this. There is no money to be made in these led lights. I just want folks to see what they can have now, if they choose. Armand has offered to help me with our own web page. I might take him up on it. For something over 100 bux a year I can have my own web site. Don't know that it will be much better than a blog but I can put the lights up there for folks to think about. The owner of prudentrv.com is a good guy but his website is just too difficult to navigate. If he allows me to sell from my own website I can make it easier for folks. I am a simple minded guy, I guess, but I don't necessarily need the information packed into his site to make a purchase. Teri gets a bit annoyed at me when folks come to visit us here at the shop. I flip the light on so they can see what I am talking about. I am sure others will come along with this kind of led but right now I see none even close to this quality. Will try to have some stuff to show yall at Jim's table in Patterson. Just cool stuff for those who might dry camp some and hate firing up the Onan.

just a thought but why dont you let Bounds and JimK list them for you? Then you are not out $100 clams a year for a limited thing????? I would think they would be interested since they are GMC Parts suppliers and LEDs are hot technology now.

The only thing I will say is BE SURE THESE LEDS do not get HOT and can start a FIRE.

I had built something for work one time and I was told becareful where I tread because the legal demons are everywhere....

We have some interior LED lights and have seen one for the cockpit
light that seems to work.
Dan has introduced me to his supplier and will have those for sale
along with others that I'm being introduced to.
The battery energy savings is so great that I know it will be a big
seller in our community.

I have considered using those LED lights you can find at Menards or HomeDepot, you know, the round puck lights that are 12vdc and run from a wall transf. Throw out the transf and hook normally.

The price is right and there is a decent amount of light.

Yes Len. They are easy to adapt to the festoon socket if you are handy with a soldiering gun. If not, I make an adapter for them. I use 2 for Teri's reading light and it is more than enough for her. Less than .2 amp draw. Some find one will do what they want.

We will have some selection a Western States if you do not see what makes sense.
