We finally finished installing the Paul Leavitt 403 into the Frazier coach.
It was everything Paul said it was.
It runs beautiful !!!
I could balance a half dollar on edge on the air cleaner it runs so smooth.
Put all new seals and gaskets including torque converter seal (not the head
gaskets) before installing into the coach.
After we got it running, we ran a compression test.
#1 & #8 were 150# and the rest were in the high 130s to low 140s.
Frazier's are so happy with it, they think they have a new coach.
THANK YOU Paul for the engine.
THANK YOU Carl for the hoist frame, it worked really well.
We used 2 come alongs putting it back in as we could tilt the engine and
transmission
to bring up through the hole.
It's the first one I've ever done and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Nothing like hearing an engine come to life for the first time. As Steve F.
has been known to exclaim,"It's almost better than sex" I'll have to admit
it usually brings a smile to my face too. The 403 is known to be a smooth
runner because of it's oversquare design, the bore is larger than the
stroke. You might want to double check that compression test after a few
miles and remember to hold the throttle wide open when you do the cranking.
Try to watch the compression build up stroke by stroke and turn over the
engine the same number of revolutions for each cylinder tested.

Jim;
I'm not to sure how Steve does it, but I'll take sex over an engine swap any
day.
We ran the engine quite a while before doing the compression test, but I'll
take your advice and do another after he has driven it for a while.
Yes I did have the throttle wide open when doing the test and had the same
engine revs each cylinder.
