Just a note to thank everyone for the support you have offered us during our second engine failure in a year. I continue getting emails and calls from folks here on the net. Each one cheers me up. Last night Herm came and took me out for supper. I had never met Herm. He is a good one. Carl and Kathy S. fed me Wednesday night. I have an offer for a meal from Armand and Carol. Jim K. has supported me through all of this and warrantied the engine. Lots of folks have offered us good wishes. Tomorrow I will get Teri back and she will stay here with me til we drive out with the GMC running again. John Friedenberg is a great guy. He is well versed on our stuff. I have no doubts about his ability to put us back on the road. He has been great and will continue to be a friend to us in the future. Billy will have him on the list as a shop in Tucson that can fulfill the needs that others might have in the future. We look forward to seeing many of you in Patterson. Just remember you have had a part in keeping us smiling.

Dan,
it's not just that you and Teri are such nice people, which you are, but it's also because you guys are living the dream of using your GMC that so many of us envy.

Hey you guys, take it with a smile.
When I bought my first SOB, it had a Ford 460 in it and it liked OIL. I would have to constantly check the oil at fill up and add as needed. Once I did not check the oil and as I was tooling down the road, the engine just stopped. I could not find anything wrong and by chance, I checked the oil, YUP, low. The hydraulic lifters lost oil and the valves began to open less and less until it stalled. Add oil and on we go.
It ran out of gas once, when the guage said it was half full, lololol, after being towed to ford and a couple hours they found it, that was embarrassing.
For some reason, it ate power steering belts. When checked the alignments were ok but next trip, the belt was gone. Surprisingly, on that SOB, the lack of power steering did NOT adversely affect the steering ability inside the coach at the wheel. One trip, that silly belt, which was new, frayed just as we were 100 miles from home. Since it was not that big a deal we drove to the destination without since we had reservations. Coming home, the power steering pump began to leak. the case was a two piece unit and it simply, "fell apart".
It had failed ign coils, brake line failure, etc etc. At one point, I never took it on the road without expecting to be towed to a shop.
Since I always travel with my dogs, these little break downs are never welcomed with open arms.
When I was traveling to pick up Gatsbys' CRUISER, right around North Dakota, I had a water pump failure in my Jimmy. We waited in the GMC dealer waiting room, pad on the floor and my Greyhound Gatsby laying there greeting most the staff as word got around the place, came to see him and give pats on the head. Who'd know that coming back with the GMC, we would be at that same dealership, replacing the distributor gear shaft ( as it turned out, the wrong one, they put the one in for a car, not the gmc Motorhome ).
Dan and Terri, its all an adventure, the way I see it. plan to have time "just in case", enjoy the ride, enjoy your friends, the friends you make, and have a great time. We never expect anything to happen and when it does, its usually a dooooozy. Take it as best you can, regroup and move on.
So sorry about this one, I would have never expected this problem again. Keep your spirits up, keep smiling, tomorrows a new day....

> Thank you Bill. You have been a good friend to Teri and me for a long time now. So have so many others, here on the forum and off. Without the support of yall we would have given up last year and just done something else. Even when things have gone south on us we have you folks right with us. It is like this: I could never move a 1000 pound rock from our path, but with all of yall we can just kick the thing aside and move forward. That is just how it is. So many people ride with us offering whatever is needed to move the rocks that fall in our path. There are others out here doing similar things they just don't have a big mouth like I do. :d Just ask Teri.

Right, thanks Steve. I don't have everyone listed here just wanted everyone to know that every note or call means a lot to us. Many many folks have lent support to us in one way or another.
