My hardworking local boy called with the totals;

950 lb aluminum and 1000 lb steel.

He got $.30/ lb for the Al and $.10 for the steel.

The drive train and bogies had been removed.

He said he would do it again so somebody better jump on the two GMC's I've found locally that remain unsold, or me and my farmer are gonna' take another TZE out of circulation.

Just kidding, (mostly) my marriage can't stand another salvage project.

let's see.....

drive train - 1600
onan - 400
rear bogies - 300?
interior - 1000?
bath - 120
glass - 300?
that accounts for 6000 lb

i think the pile of wood i burned was a couple hundred.

and i think the remaining non-metal body barts is another 200

i'm sure we can nickel and dime the rest, door, seats, tanks, bumpers, fridge, furnace, water heater, range, countertop....

I think he put in about 40 hours.

So he cleared $9/hour after gas for his truck.

I threw in another $300 in scrap.

Dave,

Thanks!

I have created a folder under GMC entitled Scrap where I will save these
emails for future reference.

As you know quite often the same questions get asked and it's easy to answer
if you have saved old emails.

The only problem is REMEMBERING that you've saved them and REMEMBERING where
you saved them!

Guys, before anyone scraps another one, I really really need that alum strip at the top above the windows on the pax side and the end caps for the same strip on the drivers side to replace the that was ganked up by my PO.

Chris,

I did a quick check and note there were two designs. I don't know what the
difference is; perhaps someone else here does.

However, since you have a 1977 Kingsley I would assume it is the second
design.

To make sure you get the correct one please check the following:

Ref: Parts Book 78Z
Page: 23-95

Key: 2 - CAP - body side trim moulding rear end (RH & LH)
P/N: 703657

Key: 4 - MOULDING - body side trim upper (RH & LH)
P/N: 8884084

Key: 5 - CAP - body side trim moulding front end (RH & LH)
P/N: 703565

It appears that the end caps have two "teeth" that go into the long drip
rail.

The first design appears to have a single "tooth."

By the above definition there were probably 3 designs. The drip gutter design was implemented at about 1973 TZE V102040. THE 1973/4 26' design used 13 screws per side. Then in 1975/6 (don't remember the precise time and don't remember where those notes are) the screws per side went to 25. There were also changes in the type of screw head, flat, filster & allen were used at different times.
Sorry, just had to jump in here :^)

Bill,

Double Trouble which has a build date of 11/74 according to Dave Greenberg
and evidence I found to confirm that when I took up the carpeting has drip
lip mouldings with 25 screws. I replaced them all when I removed and
resealed the mouldings at Jim B's last summer.

Thanks Rob,
I suspect the change increasing the number of molding screws came with the BIG redesign for the 1975 models. I have the data somewhere, was just too lazy to look it up.

Note: For anyone that wonders about your coach build date, check near the top left of your glove box sticker for a six digit number, see example below:
