Rob Allen installed it. Perhaps he will chime in with that. I know he did a great job. I believe it is a thin plywood with a decorative side. He told me, but that is one of those things that didn't stick.

Sigh.... another project. At least I can lift most of those parts.
Non running when I got it 1 1/2 years ago. Now a running restoration.

You mentioned that the molding was routered. Was that on the top edge so you could get a "tighter" fit? Wondering if you considered using the plastic/foam molding? I need to clean mine up and I like your look.

No, that would be what had been the lower face corner. This was a piece of base-board molding I purchased at Lowes.
I selected it because it was a true 4 inches wide, same as the plastic, and I liked the look of it. When I mounted it, I wanted a flat surface to put the screws thru, so the molding was flipped up-side down. Other than a little grooving to match the ceiling ribs, it was a snug fit to the ceiling. Probably because the material Rob used was that little bit thicker than the original.

I did some checking, and there is/was a property management company in Montana, Bozeman if I remember right. By the name of 356 Ranch.
I bought the rig from Rob Allen in Idaho, and he bought it from a dealer in Montana (Helena?).

Good to see the old beastie and know she is in good hands. That ceiling molding was one of those projects that I had always been going to get to, your solution is good.
Someone asked about the ceiling project. Here is my album on that. The ceiling material is a vinyl covered thin plywood. It does look good and I did a lot of re insulation when I did that job, as well as repainting of the headliners in front and back. Also did the LED clearance lights at that time.

Someone else asked about the 356 Ranch. From the research I did on the rig, the owner previous to me did not do the paint job but it was done by someone previous to him. I think that was the 356 ranch origin. And yes it was over near Billings I believe. I got the rig in Missoula. The PO to me thought the engine had been redone by the PO to him, but was not sure. Dave G had some information on previous owners, but it is all gone from my mind at this point.
I just didn't use the GMC enough to justify keeping it, but still enjoy the GMC net and they have been good enough to not toss me out. I RV in the Airstream or Argosy trailers and did a renovation on the Argosy a year ago. Put 9000 miles on it last summer, so that one I do use.

The only problem is that the honey color is not the original color. it actually was white but the plastic discolored over time to a yellowish, honey color.

Don: I just looked at the photo set again and find it has been scrambled in one of the crashes a few years ago. I hope everyone can figure out what I did. The original sequence was easier to follow, and made more sense.
I like to see photos that have captions to tell the point of the photos, so I do them when I post.

I did notice the scramble but it didn't hurt the presentation.
The time and effort you put into the commets made it a a great tool for others. Wish I could find some thin plywood covered with a fabric, in past attempts the glue never held well.
