Paul,

Nope, I have had one of those for years, I bought it when I was working on
VW's as the CV boots they use have the crimp clamps on the axle ends. The CV
joint ends come from the manufacturer crimped into a metal flange.

You don't need the Lisle 30800 for the GMC CV joints, however, if you're a
tool junky go for it! ;-)
