Hello folks,
I am looking at a coach ('76) that has a spotless interior. I have been reviewing the maintenance records and have noticed that every 4 years or so, the manifolds were resurfaced and had a new gasket installed. Eventually, the records show that the manifolds were too thin to resurface and just had a gasket installed.
I can't figure out what would cause the manifold gaskets to be replaced so often. Any thoughts?
Bob
EDIT: Had the wrong coach in mind when I wrote this. The coach is a '76 with a side wet bath with twins in the back.

Same bad manifold. Won't hold a gasket due to not enough material on the
manifold itself, or the head is uneven (very likely). The fix could be as
simple as remflex exhaust gaskets for manifolds, or remove the head(s) and
resurface them as well. The manifold bolts need to be retightened after
original heating and cooling cycle following gasket replacement in any case
except for remflex. They have a very specific torque proceedure. I assume
that the engine is a 403 unless it has been changed. If the manifold is bad
and the heads are good, Thorley headers are a possibility also.
