After geting the right half of the dash removed.(easy when you're not going to reuse the old parts,CRACK!!!) I noticed the insulation looks awfull. Looks like its gotten wet. Noticed some dum-dum along the right side at the base of the windshield. Must of had a leak. But the bad insulation is not right under it. Maybe it got wet from camping in cool weather,,,condensation??? So I'm going to need to insulate the dash area. But what kind??? I really like the 1/2 inch ceramic matt encapsulated in .005 AL that I used on the engine compartment. Fire proof/resistant and very quiet. You can only hear the Caddy on steep hills!!! But if I were to use that and it got wet it would stay wet. Not good,,,,any thoughts???,,,,PL

Paul,
The black perforated insulation/liner looks like some type of headliner material. The propane and Onan compartment of my 73/23 was originally lined with similar material.

Looks like 15 circuits. I was looking at getting an 18 to 22 block. The Kwick
ire and some of the others have the horn relay and 2 flashers in the block. Not
ecessarly better but a little diffrent. I wonder what the black stuff is. Not
he egg foam on the back of the panels.,,,,,PL

Is that black or gray? Looks like the old car cover material called
Technalon II.

Paul,
The only insulation I used on my firewall and inside the HVAC ducts was 1/4"
closed cell foam -- landau top padding. Considering the skimpy insulation
originally installed, and the fact that the firewall's not directly between
"us" and anything noisier than the wind, I thought that would be sufficient.
I'm happy with the results. The cockpit's pretty quiet and I have the
impression that most of the remaining noise is from below, not forward.
Now, considering my hearing, you may want to take all that with a grain of
salt -- but SHE likes it. :-)
