Albert,
To demonstrate an acute grasp on the obvious I would suggest you set up an
eBay and Craigslist search.

Rob,
What is going on with your weather and how is it effecting you, I know
that you are in new south wales? Have you had any flooding there?

Carlton,
Thanks for asking, Helen and I are high and dry. We live in the inner city
suburb of Paddington which is about a mile or so to the east of the Sydney
CBD. As you know Sydney is on the harbor so for us to flood it would take
rains of Biblical proportions (40 days and 40 nights).
Brisbane on the other hand is located on the banks of the Brisbane River
(makes sense eh!). The rains from north of there caused the flooding of the
CBD. The irony of the situation is that these rains came on the heels of the
worst drought in Australia for 100 years!
The flooding is now occurring in northern New South Wales and Victoria.
This is the worst disaster Australia has ever suffered; the estimates of the
cost are over half a billion dollars and rising!
Fortunately the loss of life has not been as bad as the floods in Brazil.
Mark Bennett passed through Sydney earlier this week on his way back home to
the Gold Coast (south of Brisbane) and his home is OK too. I had a yak with
Peter Bailey down near Adelaide (South Australia) today and he is also OK.
The thing that was rewarding was that there were thousands of volunteers
whose homes were not flooded pouring into the Brisbane suburbs to help with
the clean up.
Regards,
Rob M.
