Looks like my Glenbrook. Paint seems to be at about the same stage, although we refer to it as baby puke instead of twinkie colored. That must have been one heavy load hanging off the back. I can guarantee you'll enjoy it more when you've got it unloaded. Also agree you were loading up the tongue and picking up the front end. Trailer like that again and I'd move the Jeep way back on the trailer.

C'mon, y'all give him a break. Better a little tongue heavy and steady than
tail heavy and swaying -- that can get REALLY scary -- and uncontrollable.

I just copied and pasted an earlier post about the trailer towing:
Pete,
I tow a Jeep, on a trailer, with my GMC too:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=34785&title=towing&cat=5523
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=37015&title=jeep7e-2300-23-2c-trailer&cat=5523
If your front wheels are feeling a bit unloaded, you might want to adjust the position of the Jeep, on the trailer, so that you reduce the tongue weight somewhat. You should be shooting for around 10 % of the total weight on the tongue. I try to have no more than 350 - 400 pounds on mine and probably err on the light side. The coach tows the trailer just fine that way.
My combined weight of the Jeep and trailer is approx 3,800 - 4,000 pounds. I try to get 10% of that, or a little less, on the tongue. It works well.

The Jeep on the trailer was a one time event. I didn't have the time or funds to set it up for flat towing before we left to pick up the GMC.
You're right about it being to far forward. I didn't think about moving it back to allow more load on the front. I have had a nasty experience with too much weight too far back on a trailer so I was trying to avoid that. This being front wheel drive does change things though. If I do use the Jeep as a towd, I will get the proper tow bar and brake equipment.
I'm so glad to have this thing home and safe. What a trip.

Pete,
I know several people who flat tow a JK successfully. It is still a bit heavy (according to conventional wisdom here, anyway) but can easily be done, and you get rid of the extra weight of the trailer. I have towed my XJ which is a little lighter, with no problems and have recently switched my towd to a 2003 four door Tracker at just under 3,000#. I am about to try towing it with my new 3.70 final drive for the first time, this weekend (to Quartzsite). Should make a big difference.

Pete,
What an adventure bring the coach home --- can't imagine blowing a tranny so shortly into the trip and then managing the replacement. And pretty innovative to find a way to fit the Jeep to the trailer. I can appreciate why you had some white knuckle moments.
Congratulations on the new GMC -- and thanks for taking us along on the trip!

Jess,
Towing 4-down, there's no need for an equalizer hitch.
The purpose of an equalizer hitch is to transfer some of the vertical hitch
load from the rear wheels of the tow vehicle to its front wheels. Since a
4-down tow bar places almost no vertical load on the tow vehicle, there's no
need for equalization.
