Most everybody on the list probably knows about this, but
for the few or several new GMC enthusiasts, I thought I'd
share this little find.
I'm in the middle of re-finishing my GMC window frames
(complete disassembly), roof/body molding and other exterior
bits that require touchup painting.
I'd thought about getting the paint I need in custom spray
cans at about $30 per copy. While getting some SEM Trim
paint today, the store (Annex Automotive and Industrial
Finishes here in Riverside) showed me a cool device - a
Preval spray gun. Basically a 6-oz. glass container with a
propellant canister that attaches to the top. Glass
container is reusable, and the propellant canister is
replaceable. The glass container has a cap so whatever you
mix up can be stored for later use. They charged me $5 for
the whole thing, and the replacement propellant charge is $5.
Solves the problem of finding the right color or material in
a spray can wherever fine spray cans are sold. You also
don't have to wait like a criminal for someone to find the
manager that is on break that has the key to paint vault.
Read all about it:

Used one for years. Largest surface I've painted was a Datsun engine
compartment.
Cleanup is minimal and you can spray any multi-part auto paint, which is
nice, too. I'm a fan.
If you can paint well with a rattle-can you can paint better with this
device.
Much slower drying time than rattle-can paint, of course.
